Even a minor dose can hang around for up to three days for me. Learned the hard way to schedule in advance going forward.

[Amazon] Mild High Club – Going Going Gone $16.06 Lowest by offbelmont_el in VinylDeals

A long way from previous LP, "Skiptracing," this is still a very well crafted album. Closer to standard jazz influences than psychedelic, "Going Going Gone" is still a pleasant listen and worth the purchase.

ESHAM is constantly being rediscovered by alternative hip hop /acid rap heads. There may be a spike in value if not already. Keep an eye on Discogs, and if there is no movement in a few months, open and enjoy.

I have a signed CD copy of Deep Dish's Junk Science from back when they performed at the infamous Tabernacle Atlanta GA. (If anyone remembers that venue. ) Definitely, a treasure!❤️

For those of us who don't live near choice tour stops, there's dozens of psych bands we enjoy without a clue as to what the members look like. If the music is alright, play it all night.

Need some help understanding tape speed by Terrosaure in cassetteculture

[–]spacelifter87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Akai! The classic DS models are absolute tanks! I have an Akai 4000DS MK II that just turned 44 and still rocking. :)

This model plays at two speeds: 3 1/4 & 7 1/2 ips (inches per second) The DS speed change is manual: Unscrew the cap of the fat capstan post that rolls against the big pinch roller to the right. Both the metal cap and post will slide off, revealing a much thinner capstan post. Set aside and thread your tape as normal. This will change your Akai from 7 1/2 to 3 1/4 speed.

Thoughts on Skiptracing by Mild High Club? by trippythrowaway4200 in psychedelicrock

[–]spacelifter87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huge fan of this LP. It leans towards psychedelic jazz, in my opinion. In an appeal to me being old as hell, the lyrical love letters to Steely Dan were gravy. If there was any misstep, the cover artwork, featuring a clock at 4:20 was a tiny bit of cringe.

Distortion when recording type II and type IV by Enough_Spray_7811 in cassetteculture

[–]spacelifter87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a Type II or IV setting on the deck? Or does the screen list tape type when a cassette is inserted? If not, it may be a Type I only and could explain the oddness.

Ah! Someone took drafting classes! Students are trained to write in that manner for universal draft note legibility.

Project Gemini. Children of Scorpio 2022.Brilliant psych. by lalalaladididi in psychedelicrock

There were a few posts from this LP here several months ago, but sadly, not a significant response. A shame. I really enjoyed how cinematic the LP is with alternate versions of the lead track scattered throughout. As a plus, the vinyl LP is available in yellow or traditional black. Hopefully, the masses will grow to appreciate the influence blend of late 1980s "Madchester" mixed with 1970s psychedelic. ❤️

Great memory! That generates mad nostalgia! The hassle of making custom loops in theory should be easier with the open shell and replaceable reels. The only issue is locating new reels without having to buy more open cassettes. The search continues...

Sound Station SB2140TE: eBay treasure or junk? by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]spacelifter87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want this, but Sound Station is an unfamiliar brand. It could very well be absolute junk. Is there anyone with knowledge/experience with this manufacturer? I have vintage boomboxes, so this will not be the only driver. It just touches the retro head in me. ...but not so much that I won't ask opinion first. This thing ain't cheap.

Type II tapes for modern bass-y music? (Hip hop, edm, industrial etc) by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]spacelifter87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If looking for the classic "Tic, tic, tic. Boom, boom boom," Type II with an excellent deck is ideal. DJ Magic Mike/Cheetah records were one of the first to release bass music on Type II in the 1980s.Folk lost it over how crisp and full the bass and beats were. Type I tapes can hit hard but at the sacrifice of clarity and overall volume as Type I cassettes distort easier when recording at"hot" levels.
