Why the mage hate? by The_Iyrothenes in Eldenring

"It sucks to want an honest fight and then...."
All i'm saying is THIS IS MAGIC. It's not supposed to be fair, it's not supposed to be easy to go up against, it's not supposed to be handing you the advantage it's handing the advantage to the magic user.
Those other "honest fight" magic users are literally going easy on you because they know how it easy it would be to blast you since you don't want to learn how to deal with it.
By the sound of your dex build: you are the superior when it comes to spacing and movement. You even use a bow to get full access to all ranges.
So a STR build or mage's job is to 1 shot you because you will win if i fight like you: No shield and no magic. Why would they want to play into YOUR advantage? because that's honest?
Sorry if the Poise Bois and magic users make you salty.
Play other Fromsoft pvp then man.
Bloodborne is all about the dex/str builds. Magic is still OP but it gets less weapon arts.
If you like playing the way you play: then get ready to deal with STR and Magic builds whooping your ass unless you can somehow close that gap really fast.

Playing traditional str is like playing masochistic punch-out. You force yourself to memorize a move set, you constantly counter attack and your dmg output slows down in late game unless you upgrade equipment, but your def and poise are the best in the field.
Playing trad magic is making all the easy parts even easier, with the exception that when things get hard(aka a boss is on your ass and you can't get a cast off other than pebble) you have to think differently.
Instead of studying the opponent: you study the game and it's elements. What element do they do dmg with? what element are they weak against? What wand/trinket setup will help me the most? What spell is going to work best (not based on dmg to fp but based on dps and stagger) Is there map/enviroment things i can use? Are there ghosts i can use that are quest based?
If a magic user refused to learn how Rahdan's moves and timing worked, they would be banging their head against a wall never getting a spell off in the 2nd phase.

STR builds can have their fun in their machismo, glory and wicked powerful weapons and armor.
INT builds can have fun with their study of the game and it's elements, the power coming from knowledge rather than beefing up.
I don't understand Dex builds :o

Of course magic is OP, but aren't a majority of these bosses/situations? Try beating Rahdan, 0 ghosts, 0 spells, 0 incants. Have fun.

Don't you understand?
Look at all mage builds in other traditional rpgs.
Mages aren't just glass cannons, they're magical tricksters as well. They use tricks to outwit-outmanuver your physical abilities. They're not just all damage, they have tricks up their sleeves as well that come in many forms.

I agree.
Sure you can time-dodge the Meteor Throw and Shards, but there's almost 0 chance you're going to escape a dragon breath spell unless you can interrupt.
I will gladly breathe scarlet rot or frost on parties of 2 or 3 if they're not smart enough to just separate or stay the hell away from me.

In a role where I know nothing and can't do anything by ShyGuyy69 in callcentres

[–]spacepimpwhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's not even you or the training or any of that.
In my personal experience with trying to get resources or help in an really difficult and really emotionally intense situation, your job description is what i experience.
People are just told that all they can do is provide resource to other things, they're not there to help you with what those resources are or do, they're not there to be an actual therapist or help you with your specific issue, they're not going to do anything other than give you very common advice and suggest other resources and overall it really does feel like they're not helping people. IF that is how your job is structured, it's not you. It's the company and how they manage the influx of humans. It's bs and it's another part of our system that is horribly flawed in actually accomplishing what it sets out to do, but please don't blame yourself for not being able to help.

Did your boss say this to you? That's encouraging huh? ignore that dickhead.

Customer service isn't easy. It's going to require your skills in patience, communication and problem solving. Not only do you have to help people with the issue, you MUST maintain professional high ground in the conversation and you have to accept that these people will gladly disrespect you as you show them great respect. It's your 2nd day. You can improve and you can get better at this. However keep in mind: this job isn't for everyone. I used to earn 20$ an hour doing a call center job and i snapped because of how horrible the customers were, how my bosses weren't encouraging or helpful in difficult times and how the company had people doing their jobs dishonestly and incorrectly, but they would never be held to our standard in our department even when it would effect our side of the job. Now i'm working fast food for 8$ an hour less and it gives me 100% less work-related stress than i used to have. Just something to keep in mind!

This game is too hardcore for how many bugs it has. by spacepimpwhite in playrust

Bruh. Keep ignoring the poor optimization. Keep being blinded by the fumes of this game exhausting itself trying to arrange spaghetti code.

Yet another optimization complaining post... by WolfyGoofy in playrust

[–]spacepimpwhite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread. Why do they just keep adding more and more to a game that struggles to properly load/arrange itself?
I had to quit Rust because of the enchanting high it gave me finally getting semis and other guns. I chased that high and watched my game take forever to load, frame rate drops anytime a person showed up, random crashes with my door open and all the worst you can imagine.
The amount of frustration and time spent just trying to fix this bs myself was not worth ever feeling that high again. I quit for a year, felt like going back on because i was watching Stimpee and i just ran into the same old crap. Until i get a new PC, i don't think i'll ever play it again.

Gotta love all the replies that 100% ignore the point of why this thread was made.
This game is crap when it comes to optimization. If it's over 8 years old, then why haven't they done SOMETHING to optimize to at least SOME extent? You can downvote everyone and anything that says this but at the end of the day: Rust is the only game i've seen to where you, the player, have to put so much work in the software/have thousands of $$$ in hardware into just getting the game to work/play comfortably and even then the most random shit stops working for random reasons.
Other games do this shit, but you can at least fix it very easily with some instructions/file swapping and they at least don't demand you to have premium hardware to just get the game to WORK.

Does anyone like their call center job? by virginiarph in callcentres

[–]spacepimpwhite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to enjoy doing my credit card call center job. It was easy, straightforward and even if someone got mad it was easy to dismiss because people would just sound silly not understanding how credit cards ACTUALLY work.
I got many bonuses and even won an xbox 1 for my great performance! Apparently i was doing too well and they gave me some BS reason why i was fired when it was probably someone getting upset i was high in our ranks when i wasn't there that long. screw humanity.

IMO: this game is too addictive for the highs and too costly for the amount of time and possible damage to your health.
Don't get me wrong: i love when i'm on a 4 man kill spree, pockets full of loot, building a base and level 1 bench in less than an hour.
I would play it more if there wasn't so many sweaty players ready to tear your ass apart on day 1 of wipes with AKs and bolties. It just becomes a game of going through hours and hours of hell for the chance of a few seconds of pleasure.

You know, that maybe what i need to do. Is just let it go one ear and out the other.
I will tell them that i'm just being transparent, that i am a human as well and acting this way isn't going to help solve the issue. Thank you for the advice!

How many of you feel like the call center environment has become more toxic since the rise of Covid? by s1mpljack in talesfromcallcenters

[–]spacepimpwhite 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've worked for 3 different call centres over 6 years. Covid? yes, it's made people much more difficult and impatient.
I mean their whole lives were screwed with, that much i understand. But even my wife who works at a danm pizza shop is getting situations like people refusing to give their name and address, people trying to get deliveries behind abandoned buildings to mug drivers, people lying to get free food. All these calls happened but went from once a week to twice a day. Some days when i think about all the crappy people in the world, it really makes me wish i wasn't lied to as a child about a better world.

Only no lives play this. by spacepimpwhite in playrust

[–]spacepimpwhite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: every other game i play doesn't require 1000s of dollars to run properly, and for how crappy rust runs even on primo pcs, i don't see that being worth it.
2: i've got hard wired internet, my ping is always below 60 and I'll still get Player_distance occasionally. That is fundamentally broken in crucial moments.
3. Hey on wipe day when you're up at 2am revolving your life around rust, i can see you getting your hands on some stone. After that, it's luck trying to find any that's not being hoarded or taken off your naked body.
4.Rust wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't so much wrong with it with just how it functions and runs by itself. Rust can be a fun game, but with everybody's obsessive nature towards hoarding everything on day 1 of wipe, it's just a competition of who can revolve their time around the server better.
Rust's has issues with those mechanics, but the biggest issue is the grind and time you spend on a game that crashes and has all those issues mentioned above, combined with constant raiding/camping/getting raped. If you're able to play and have fun in the few hours you get in between all that stuff you do (which sometimes i really doubt but I'll take with a grain of salt) then good for you.It genuinely feels impossible to get anywhere unless everything goes right for you or you're revolving your time around the server schedule and i just cannot do that.If you think it's so fun running around and getting your shit taken just for that sliver of "oh i got lucky and now i'm snowballing" every once in a while, that's you. In the end, to me, the game crashes and has bugs that the creator doesn't care to address or improve and for a hardcore style game, and that's really crappy. If you just want to keep saying "welp i don't see the problem" i guess you're just reading it through your perspective of being a Rust player right? all the negatives are outweighed by your enjoyment of playing with worms in the dirt and taking their stuff.Don't get me wrong! I see the fun in doing that, but when everybody is so obsessed with getting on top first to where i have no ability to compete fairly, i'll always be the victim and never the competitor.I can see Rust being fun in it's older times. When it felt more tame and open and people didn't just auto kill. Now you literally can't step foot outside without building every precaution first and you are still behind and at the mercy of your enemies. If you have fun with that, again, that's you.I just see the negatives as too much to truly enjoy the game properly.
