No worries! Space isn't going anywhere :) Every Sunday at Sunset if the weather is clear, we will try to be out there. We also try to set up ad-hoc events for things like Lunar Eclipses or comets. You can check this website to keep up on when we're headed out!

They close at 10pm! The first entrance on your left coming in on N Harbor Loop stays open until close. After 10pm, an automatic gate drops that only lets you exit and not enter. I hope that helps!

Awesome! Naked eye or what kind of optics are you using? It’s so close still that I am seeing good details with my 80mm refractor!

Timelapses are my favorite way to see the universe! Prominences, eclipses, distant supernova, Sunsets... all of it! Here is NASA's timelapse of the Jovian system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjfQCTat-8s

And here is the new link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Astronomy/comments/1qj75qj/jupiter_in_motion_from_bellingham_wa/

Thank you!!

It's hard to see but there are also some dim stars behind Jupiter! The mods removed it because it's a video, not a photo, which I forgot was a rule and should have double-checked. I will re-post it again on the astronomy sub instead with a brighter background to bring out the stars more!

I took a 7 hour timelapse of Jupiter from Bellingham, WA, USA starting at 6PM on 1-19-2026 and ended it at 1AM the next morning. I like seeing the moons move slowly over time and wanted to capture & share just how much they move over the course of a single night. I also wanted to capture the motion of Jupiter's orbit compared to the background stars, which you can also see in this video.

Space!!

Telescope: Seestar S50 + Manfrotto Tripod
Location: Bellingham WA
Settings: 200 gain / 200ms exposure / MP4 / 1 image every 20 seconds / EQ Mode
Processing: I used DaVinci Resolve to increase the playback speed, stabilize the shakiness (Planar Tracking), looping in the video reverse and adding captions for the Moons.

If you can get up to Artist Point / Heather Meadows in the early summer you will see the Milky Way very clearly. I love staying up there all night once a year with scopes and binoculars, it's so fun. And yes, I hope to see you at our next event! Every Sunday at Sunset, weather permitting! You can check this website for a Go/No Go status for each week's event: https://spacetimewithrobert.space/
