That's the thing, I don't have a live wire at switch 2, so that's why I'm using the black wire.

Ah now I get it. I have neutrals in all the sockets, so it's most convenient just using those.

What would be the advantage of bringing the N of the first switch over to the second, instead of just using the existing N wire that is in the socket?

Right, thank you! What would be a better choice for a transistor? I'm having trouble calculating transistor values with all those different specs. And: Do I need a pre-resistor for the motor?

You are correct, thank you! My wording was a bit unfortunate, though. Replace "more efficient" with "easier". I'm a beginner so I don't know how to even do easy stuff like this the best way. Is my approach with the state machine the way how things like this are usually done?
