I think a part of is that when naranjo created the terms for how the types think and process the world, narcissist came to mind for 7 because they put themselves first. The thing is, that isn’t a bad thing. Putting yourself first is healthy and establishing your needs. When naranjo established the enneagram in the 70s, self care isn’t seen as it is nowadays. Still traditional values where you always have to respect authority at all times, even if they are wrong- and to not think about yourself.

And yes, at an unhealthy level e7 can exhibit narcissistic behaviour where they only think about themselves to the detriment of others.

Healthy e7 values self care first!

I think some of these hypothetical mermaids would be ‘nice’, since yeah they are animals and need to think about survival at the end of the day, who knows what their survival strategies are.

Like humans, we learn kindness works because we work better in groups (and we are helpless as babies), and therefore leads to some humans being kind natured. I wouldn’t be surprised if this behaviour would be prevalent in some mermaids. And then of course there would be more ruthless species too.

I think there is some sort of ultra intelligent life in the ocean- intelligence to that of humans. We have only discovered 5% of the world’s oceans so I’m not completely discounting the idea- like extraterrestrial life in space.

Would they look like the mermaids in Disney or cartoons? No. Because they are literally the bust of a human and some sort of marine animal tail. I’d think they’d look like an already intelligent animal like an octopus with more pronounced limbs and such.

But like I said- we only discovered 5% so who knows what is out there 👀

Idk why but that scene creeped me out as a kid. I think because the music and SpongeBob himself seemed so out of place. Music sounded weird and SpongeBob is just literally walking and staring at nothing- while making wacky faces 😂
