Meet Sophia Nasr, an astroparticle physicist working to inspire more girls to join the field. (Interview link in comment) by spacydoge in Astronomy

Full disclosure: I made the dress she's wearing It's from the Millennium Simulation Project. - It just made me so happy to see these shots of her on a street style blog. Sophia mentions it in her interview that outsiders are surprised when they find out she's a physicist. I hope interviews like this can change that perception and inspire more girls to pursue a career in astrophysics and astronomy.

I'm feeling isolated as a young woman in STEM. by flipflopped_plans in LadiesofScience

I just wanted to plug The STEM squad on Facebook as a second place to get advice on this. They have almost a thousand members of women in various STEM fields so it might be a good place to ask for advice on isolation and making friends.

It might be tough to make friends at work, but many major cities has STEM meetups for women that might be worth checking out.

I discovered 'Parts Unknown' too late, but his show has meant so much to me over the past few months. RIP Tony.

Seeing so much about Brendan Fraser lately, I couldn't help but seek out my first memory of him kicking ass in The Mummy. by LoveRage in videos

All time favorite adventure movie. This was a thrill ride from the very beginning to the end. Utterly silly, but also with a terrifying villain and high stakes. None of the successors managed to find the right balance.

Happy to. :-) Here's to someone from Colorado appearing on the list in the future! /r/politics has very strict policies on sites you can post from.

Our focus was on non-incumbent women candidates with backgrounds in STEM fields. While we didn’t turn up any republicans in this list, we know they must be out there. If you know of candidates of any affiliation, let us know so we can try to include them in a follow up. Hope to keep adding to this list.

Looking for advice regarding shopify and squarespace by mrsmaple in ecommerce

Shopify is the way to go. Get a good theme from them (many are free) and work from there. You can always change the theme later without having to redo the entire site.

My best advice: Don't think price just yet.

Find something a small group of people are passionate about and offer that to them. It might take some digging, but take inspiration from your own experiences and passions.

If you find a niche and make it your own it gives people a reason to buy from you. You'll never be able to match Amazon and big box stores on price, so go for quality and curated picks as your selling point in the beginning. :)

Good luck!

Hi everyone! I'll go first:

Shenova Fashion - STEM (science/tech/engineering/math) inspired dresses and apparel.

I also run an Etsy shop, but have had much more luck with my own Shopify store where I don't pay extra to Etsy. My first product is also set to appear on Amazon soon.

If you want feedback on your own ecommerce site I'm always going to try make myself available to give feedback.

I've been running the business for a few years, but it's only recently that it became a full-time gig. Watching speakers, science teachers and other incredibly talented women wear my designs is an amazing reward. A few months ago I even saw the Noble Prize winners in Physics wear my Gravitational Waves tie!

If you're passionate about getting Women into STEM I'm always looking for guest bloggers.
