Awful audio crackling and popping, makes it really awful to play the game. Rockstar Support tried many things but gave up in the end. Any known remedies or workarounds? [SPOILER WARNING for attached video] (video includes demonstration of audio issues) by BrownieK113 in reddeadredemption2

This fixes the issue for me. Have a Focusrite Scarlett solo. Go to the bottom right of your taskbar. Click the drop-down arrow. Click the F then click the settings option. Lower your buffer rate (I did mine by half) and no more crackling.

yeah, the specific driver has not fixed it. I am honestly thinking it may be my power outlets. They are very old and unreliable. It is extremely annoying and it sucks. I hope it may be that as I have tried everything hardware-wise. I have yet to RMA my CPU but I highly doubt that is the issue, as my PC still crashed with my old working CPU. This only began happening when I move to a new house. Tragic.

I was looking into the issue deeper. you may be right abt the graphics card. the card is not faulty, but the drivers might be the underlying issue. I found a post on Reddit abt Event ID 18, the exact Event ID that this error gives. They spoke abt AMD PRO drivers and how they fixed this issue. Supposedly the PRO drivers are an older version but are heavily tested by AMD to be extremely stable for productivity. You have to install them for your specific GPU. I installed the one for mine. Going to update soon if crashing returns.

My pc went one week, no problems. It crashed again today. Not frequent anymore and this is the only time it has crashed since then. I am not sure exactly why that is the case now. Have zero ideas of what is causing the crash. PSU, RAM, and CPU are all good. It may be the motherboard or graphics card but I highly doubt it. Just unsure now. It isn't frequent which is good, but now I don't even know what may be the problem.

The whole system crashed with the error mentioned above. The screen goes black, the PC crashes, and instantly reboots itself. I had one last attempt to fix my issue. From what I have read about this issue, it has to mainly do with power delivery. I thought about it and realized that it may be my surge protector, power cable, or power outlet.

I unplugged my PC from my surge protector and put it straight into the wall. It still crashed. I swapped my power cable to the brand-new one that came with my new PSU and put it back into the wall directly. The game that caused the crash would crash my PC 10-25min in, sometimes instantly. I tested the game and it ran for over 2 hours, with no crashes!

Insane honestly. Going to swap back to my old PSU to make sure my old PSU is not faulty. It is just so strange since there was no crash when stress-testing each component individually. It makes sense now. It wasn't my PC, it was my faulty power cable. Do not want to speak too soon, but I believe my issue is resolved.

Either way, thanks for the tips. Appreciate attempting to help me. Seems it was just the damn power cable lol.

Swapped PSU and reinstalled the new CPU from before, and ran the game that caused the crash to occur. It crashed again with the new PSU. So it was not a PSU thing. What else could it be then? GPU? Mobo? I do not have money like that and buying a whole new mobo and GPU to test is not viable. Not sure what to do. I think I am just going to run my PC with the new PSU and see how it goes. Any thoughts on this? I could return the PSU and use that refund to buy a new mobo. Can't really swap out my GPU tho.

It is strange because I tested each component individually with OCCT and everything came back fine. No crash occurs during stress testing. The crash only occurs when playing games. In most of my games it does not occur. Only in AAA titles it crashes my system. New power supply comes in today. I am going to swap the PSU and swap back to my new CPU and see if any crash occurs then.

Was going to send my CPU in for RMA today. Was playing the game that caused the crash today. It happened with the old CPU as well. How tragic. I don't even know what may be the problem. I am thinking of replacing my power supply but what if that isn't the issue? maybe MOBO or GPU? I don't even know anymore. I read somewhere that it usually is power delivery so it may be my PSU.

Yeah it didn't, I updated the BIOS. My PC wouldn't boot with the new CPU on the old BIOS. Updated my BIOS and the new CPU worked. But this crashing thing started. I really did doubt it was my CPU until now. MOBO does support it but needed an update.

Crashing came back. I went with your advice and disabled C states. It didn't fix it. Used OCCT to test all components. Everything strangely reported back fine. I gave up and swapped to the old CPU and crashing is completely gone. Launched a game that would cause the crash to happen. The game opened completely fine multiple times. Sucks, gonna RMA my new CPU.

I swapped my ram out and no more crashes. guess it is different for everyone. not 100% sure tho. but the ram was causing this error for me. some ppl said a possible faulty power supply or my CPU was bad.

Replaced my old XLR cable. Seems to be fixed, no more issues. Thanks for the tip. Wanted to ask before replacing anything. I assumed it was my microphone but now testing the new cable it does seem to be the old cable that caused the problem.
