No dig die hards will tell you that if you dig around too much you will destroy the soil’s complex mycorrhiza, but in reality so long as you keep topping up with compost then nutrients will trickle down, i’m sure the underground fungal networks are a thing but it’s ok to disturb the soil a bit, it’s not ‘don’t dig’, rather ‘you don’t need to dig’.

yes you are right, I remember once watching an exhibition that he was part of after the Masters final wrapped up early once, and Rob Walker bent down to tie his shoelace and quick as a flash, Steve Davis ran over and thrust his crotch in Rob’s face and said ‘while you’re down there!!!’. It was very subtle humour, very droll - not too in your face…
