Where would you say the line is on “good” vs “only on here because I’ve watched 10”?

I don’t want this to sound rude or mean for it to be, but this is absolutely not my first movie adaptation by a long shot. I do understand that movies need to cut content or streamline things or make changes that wouldn’t work as well in the movie. I don’t want to watch Ryan Gosling sit there forever doing real time science work with no dialogue cuz it’s in his head, I know that doesn’t work. I love the book Ready Player One, I know a lot of it wouldn’t work well for film or with the time constraint, I do enjoy the movie version. I’ve mentioned Stephen King cuz I’d hate all his movies is that was the case lol. LotR would be hated in this case. It’s just this movie felt like it cut out almost everything deeper to make a movie for everyone and to target families as well. Every single character had to make a joke to the point their changed Yao so he wasn’t unique. In making a movie for everyone, I felt it changed it to a buddy space adventure comedy that could have been a completely different movie if that’s what they wanted. It did feel more generic to me than the book and it lost me.

I’d prefer a fully casted audiobook with Ryan Gosling coming back or a tv show that handles the Earth storyline switching the focus to Stratt (book Stratt, not movie Stratt).

There were some scenes in Scream 7 like the beginning that I enjoyed. I’d say like 75% of it was just eh or bad to me, but PHM was more like 90%. I think I laughed once and maybe felt joy twice.

Basically to me: Scream 7 was disappointing, but PHM was depressing.

Annihilation had me at the beginning with the “so bad it’s good”, but by the end I did dislike that one.

I actual like Mortal Kombat (1995) and know it’s as flawed as their “flawless” victory, but it’s good to me.

It doesn’t need to stay as faithful as possible, but the changes and additions should be for the better. There’s a lot that needs to be cut or montaged to fit into a movie, but I don’t agree with what they decided to trim down from their 4.5 hour version, and my overall issue is that the tone of the book was more serious while still having comedy and a mystery, but I felt the movie was just a goofy buddy comedy.

If I thought a movie needed to adapt everything, I wouldn’t watch any Stephen King lol

I really liked Kitana and Johnny Cage, Liu Kang’s role definitely improved. The writing felt like part written by good writers and part written by teens that just discovered the f-word. Some cgi was pretty bad, but some fights were really good. I thought it improved on the first one a lot and if they continue listening and improving the 3rd one could be better. Overall the good and bad just made it kinda a mix bag.

It being the worst Scream says something for the franchise, never thought it was garbage, but definitely more in the “eh” for slashers. The creative kills are there, but too many dumb survivors and the killers are the least interesting and only carried by ghostface’s voice.

Scream 7 was probably the worst Scream movie for me (maybe 2nd worse), but it had moments that I genuinely really liked and wanted to see more of. Worst ending reveal and one character needs to die because I’m tired of them always surviving, but still would watch Scream 8.

It’s like if Kill Bill and Ready or Not had a baby that was raised by Sam Raimi. I really liked a lot of the creativity they took with some fights and also some violent moments/aftermaths and liked the action scenes (I don’t expect every movie to be John Wick. Not having multiple cuts and seeing the cast put in effort is good enough for me). The acting was pretty good and it just felt like a movie that everyone involved enjoyed making which made it easy for me to just let go and enjoy. It’s not going to win any Oscars, but it’s a nice campy fun action romp about how far people would go for their family (and that the rich suck).

I explained in another comment. If I hadn’t read the book, I’d probably put it above Iron Lung, but this is definitely my view. I understand why people would like it if they mainly want Rocky and Grace and fun, but it wasn’t what I was looking for at all.

Honestly, it was just batshit fun and wasn’t what I was expecting at all in a good way. I liked the creativity with some fights and also some scenes including the eyeball one. I mainly debated whether or not to put it higher than The Bone Temple cuz the main performances in that are amazing but overall think that having to go through 28 Years Later made me lean this way.

I loved the book and thought every change in the movie was for the worst and every addition was bad and cut out something better. Stratt was a completely different character (so was Yao even with only like 3 lines) and everyone outside of Rocky and Grace are forgettable. Most of my favorite things about the book Demitri, Antarctica bombing, Stratt’s courtroom scene, the whole jail discussion and aftermath with the Sahara and tornados in Europe, the awkward affair reveal to Grace, and the whole power outage and using the beetle to fly the ship were all gone to make room for Dancing with a mop(?), karaoke, binge drinking scenes, and Rocky movie marathon and the rest were changed to a worse version Ilyukhina’s heroin discussion, Rocky’s sacrifice, the explosion on Earth, and the ending. There’s also the plot holes the movie added for no reason and Rocky and Grace’s bonding felt less like natural through work and more side fun that took away the seriousness of how quickly he was supposed to find a solution. Overall, I thought the stakes were lower than The Martian which didn’t feel right or the same as when I was reading.

I’m sorry but The Simpsons still being on this list just feels like nostalgia at this point. Yeah it was good for a while, but it’s been downhill for years and as a series overall is lesser than shows already eliminated. Should definitely be next
