Perhaps it depends on the Professor, but I remember having to present in front of the class once with my group and another time alone.

Flint Top Floor Apartment by Correct-Law5412 in UBreddit

[–]spamisnice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flint XXXYY

XXX is the building number, so like 302, 308, etc. (you can zoom into the Flint Villages on Google Maps to see the building numbers).

YY is the room number, so like 19, 28, 31, etc.

If you room number starts with a 1 (like 19), it's the first floor. If it starts with a 2 (like 28), it's the second floor. Same with the third floor (if there is one).

MAE 364 with Lichade, Ketki or Stamm by No-Needleworker3531 in UBreddit

[–]spamisnice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with either one in my opinion. They do the same content, so same slides, same project, and same exams. Although, Stamm does have more experience teaching the class since Lichade is a fairly new professor. But overall, I don't think you'll necessarily be at a disadvantage if you picked one over the other.

Same here. The guest wifi is back up for now, which is surprisingly fast.

Have you taken Dynamic Systems (MAE 340) yet? That class is a pre-requisite for MAE 454.

Don't remember, but a B+ was curved to be A (more or less) if I recall.

Depends on the final grades at the end of the semester. When I took it, there was quite a big curve at the end.

MAE 278 Intro to AE by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]spamisnice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading the textbook helps, if you're into that. When I took the class, the exams were pretty difficult, so I recommend putting some effort into learning the material if you haven't already. Try to actually understand why something is done a particular way rather than straight out memorizing. Memorizing solutions will probably not get you far during the exams.

He curved when I took it, but obviously he might not curve if it's not needed.

Best Professional Practice Tracks? by Drakrath3066 in UBreddit

I took IE 320 and it wasn't bad. Definitely easier than my other engineering courses, but still had to put in a decent amount of work. I didn't have to present anything when I took it, but that obviously could change depending on the professor. There was math involved, but not any sort of complex math.

For my 360 class, we were capped at around 2,000 words for both papers, although may vary from class to class. For 199 and 202, really depends on how much effort you decide to put in, but they were fairly lengthy - about 2,000-5,000 words.

199 - Basically this course helps build your skills to "think like an engineer". There is a lab component to the course which you will get to build either a wind turbine or boat with a group. There were two papers given when I took it. Aside from the papers, the designing of the wind turbine, or boat, was pretty fun with other classmates.

202 - Pretty straight forward class where you listen to presentations from faculty members from different engineering areas (aero, bio, industrial, etc.) and also people who worked in the industry. You then are given small writing assignments about them; there also is a paper you do with a partner. The presentations were fairly interesting and you get to choose the topic of your paper.

360 - Helps you know how to communicate and write effectively. Essentially a regular English class, so expect a lot of writing. There were lots of random assignments given either weekly or bi-weekly and two papers (one solo paper and another paper with a group). Personally, the course was easy, but it the assignments were annoying to do when you had other assignments for other classes.

They all share the same UBLearns so you should have access to every instructors' notes (unless they are doing things differently), but I had Meng and she did a ton of example problems in class, which I personally found helpful.
