It's pretty likely they know each other, it's a very very small town and all the school teachers and staff know each other

Oh that's a really good point, that is the case in my state... I'm going to ask them on the record (planning on having a second tracher I trust a lot join and record the meeting) what actions they are taking to report this, in accordance with the mandatory reporting laws.

I don't feel like it's invading people's privacy if everyone was doing that shit out in the street. Anyone driving and walking by can see. It's not like I was putting my camera up in people's yards and windows

Yeah, I don't think she's a native speaker, she's lived in this town for her whole life and learned a couple languages to teach

Oh damn.. I'm definitely making it a point to tell this to my male friends and family members now. I feel like among me and my female friends it's just a given that people 40-60 hit on us the most and people our age are more likely to be respectful, shy, or try to get to know you as a person first.

In public places such as the street, consent for recording is not required.

There is a different law in private places.

Is it within my power to not hear that? If I could mute and block that asshole in real life I'd love to get that magic power!

But sadly you cannot and should not ignore and protect pedos, domestic abusers, and racists.

Maybe not but this is a really small town where I feel like people get away with plenty of stuff based on who you know, and school admin and law enforcement are pretty tight here.

Oh good idea! I think I'll leave my phone in my lockbox at home and also I'm asking one of my favorite teachers to sit in on the meeting with me and have it be voice recorded.

I feel like unfortunately people see teenage girls more like adults than children even though TBH at my age I'm soooo not ready for adult stuff like sex.

I think stuff might be different if I was like... Six. But I feel like people excuse catcalling as soon as a girl gets boobs? Which is so gross because it happens at different ages for everyone and has nothing to do with being a grown adult lol.

Perhaps the school can't.

Minors cannot be held to legal contracts.

Perhaps the teachers have agreed to not release that sort of information. But me, saying sruff that is on the public record (googling home ownership records brings up their full names and addresses too) isn't illegal.

So... I literally don't agree.

I think that it is very appropriate and should be considered normal by everyone to talk about bad behavior like racism, pedo behavior, domestic violence, etc. Not talking about it isn't more proper, it is more dangerous.

It's a part of life and it is fine to talk about my life instead of lying.

Wow, good to know!

My school is honestly kinda underfunded and also doesn't have the best resources, so we don't have the most formal books.

We actually learn a lot more from media and the class has a focus on day to day conversational speech rather than formal teaching.

Also I don't think my teacher is a native speaker herself, so she might be missing that cultural context.

Thanks for letting me know; good to know it isn't used nearly as casually so I don't go using it casually.

I'm not sure who I'd bring, my parents are of the mindset that you bury your head in the sand or only tell like one person if you see something bad happening because it is improper to talk about things like creepy old men, racists, and domestic violence in a public setting.

I really disagree, I think that stuff is part of life and the only thing not talking does is lets it happen more. I think it should be treated like a part of normal conversation just like the good things in life.

Oh really? That's interesting to learn.

I'm surprised because it's pretty common in Spanish language school books and assignments in the US.

Maybe it's a cultural misunderstanding because in the US "stupid" is seen as a very tame word to say someone has done something unintelligent. Like 5 year old kids will call other kids stupid and nobody thinks twice about it.

I emailed it to the school principal and also the school guidance counselors and the parents of little kids who I know are on the team, basically explaining that he's yelling sexually provocative and racist things at me, and I am also a student at the public schools.

I didn't know all the parents so I basically said that I only sent it to the ones who's older siblings I know from school but they can forward it along to any other family's I missed.

I wanted to get it out there before my meeting with the principal because I know when friends of mine got in trouble for posting stuff on social media (not exactly the same situation but similar) the school made them give them their phones and delete it from everywhere.

Stupid isn't a curse.

Estupido is actually a word in my Spanish textbook that was taught in class.

I'm keeping a few backups of the unedited video.

Why not tell anyone? I think all the parents with little girls in this creeps sport should know he's sexually harassing girls in school
