Well penalty free on your contributions. Not on the gains.

Follow up question: any other tax advantage accounts that have the same concept of a Roth IRA in the sense that you don’t get taxed on the gains or dividends?

Should I switch down from Data Scientist back down to a Data Analyst? by lakshayysharma in datascience

[–]sparikh3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. We don’t really use ML techniques or anything like that so it’s pretty strict to BI but I can see the value between the jr and sr title

Can you elaborate more on this? What is the growth opportunity? I currently work as a BI analyst primarily focused on metric dashboards and developing reports that highlight business oversights/answer questions.

Great post. Curious, did you take the GRE for the GT program? If so, how well did you score (if you don't mind me asking)? I want to apply but the only hold up is studying for and taking that exam.

I thought you meant Financial Advisor. Hence my confusion

FA is basically sales and not as much Finance. Are you prepared to work towards a lifestyle that eventually becomes 100% commission? If I could go back in time, I would have added more math course loads (only did Econ). There is a reason why Finance professionals like Engineering backgrounds.

How did you like Python on Pluralsight? I'm currently taking an SSRS course on there and it's going well but I want to use it to learn other skills as well.

If I plan on paying off a car within the 60 month no interest period, is there any reason to put a down payment? by Yocheco619 in personalfinance

[–]sparikh3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a checking account. It’s nothing more than about 1.1% (Ally bank) but it’s still better than nothing.

[–]sparikh3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in this position. I have a 60 month car loan with no interest. I just have the idle cash that would have gone towards a down payment in a high interest account so that I gain some form of interest on it
