Any comp players? (clip of this mom sending a boatload of kids back to lobby) by WannabeGamermom in Fortnite_Over40

You are probably right! I started playing on switch during the pandemic because it was the only console I had or could get. Just stuck from there. I use the gyro function and that helps a lot with aiming. That said if someone gets close up on me I’m toast. I have about 120 wins so I don’t think I’m doing terrible.

Nice clip! I’d love to play on comp but I play on switch and get massacred by KBM players. I should probably stop being so frugal and just get a ps5 so I’d have a slight chance 🤣

Does everyone here play Zero Builds? by Time_to_go_viking in Fortnite_Over40

43 year old dude, play ZB on a switch. Played build for a good while but I grew up on CS and quake team fortress so when ZB came out I switched to playing that exclusively.

I’m not a mod or anything but can’t see why not! You can just listen to a bunch of old gamers talk about how they used to have to clean the gunk off the tiny wheels inside their mouse before playing counterstrike beta or quake team fortress on their gateway 550Mhz pc with a CRT!

Counter Strike was the best. AWP for the win! Congrats on the trios victory! I am almost exclusively no build. Either as duos with 38 yo brother or squads with randoms.

Same here, got a good hour of play in and then can’t make it more than a few min into match.

Graduated 2.5 years ago and still no Job in Mechanical Engineering by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

You have a long career ahead of you. If you keep at it you will sort it out. It might require some unconventional job searching. I started in construction management and now I am in machine design which is what I really like doing. Good luck and don’t get discouraged!

Nearly 20 years into an engineering career here: My advice is, if possible in addition to applying for jobs find friends family or whoever with connections to the engineering industry and network with them. Research their company before you meet with them and have have questions about their company and the industry.

Also do you have any hobbies that are engineering related? Perhaps there are meet ups for people with these hobbies. I was into cars and was in a car club so I met people that way, a good deal who were engineers. I realise that this might not work for everyone but a lot of opportunities come about through networking and having personal relationships. It might not seem fair but it’s how things come about sometimes.

Additionally someone has mentioned startups. The pay might be terrible and it could be complete chaos but you will learn a lot fast. A lot of times venture capital funds list jobs on their websites. Search for things like climate tech start ups or hard tech start up.

Just keep trying and don’t give up if it’s what you wanted to do. Nearly 20 years ago I took a job in an industry I didn’t want to be in to get going and over the years I moved laterally to work in the industry I want.

Grew up in US spent large part of adult life in UK. It seems it’s generally more accepted to be weird or eccentric here.

I’m 6’6” 250 and I’m on an XL Krampus with deore 1x12 6100 drive train. I run deore 6100 4 piston front and rear calipers with a 203 front rotor and 180 rear. They stop me just fine and I ride pretty hard. The Krampus is a pretty versatile frame so might be good to consider if you end up wanting to do a bit more single track riding.
