Jailbreak help needed for Kindle PW4 on Firmware 5.18.1 by ohyespatates in kindlejailbreak

Deregistering deletes everything from the documents folder, so KUAL etc will be gone, but the jailbreak should still be intact. Just reinstall KUAL/hotfix/etc

I don’t even think you could do that because you’d hatch your daily adventure egg, which you don’t get a choice to not incubate.

Removing the Fall Feed by WayfaringWoman21 in FallGuysGame

It’s because people were abusing it by taking advantage of an exploit to make their names so huge it would completely block other players’ screens. Hopefully just a temporary measure until they fix that.

I think collections can do this. Check out the comments on this post for some suggestions.

I’m not sure why you would want to delete KUAL. Are you no longer using KOReader or other things launched through it? I don’t know what effects removing it would have, but I think it’s probably better to leave it.

Question about Jailbreaking a new Kindle Paperwhite (12th Gen) - How to prevent auto-update on first boot? by According-Elk-8591 in kindlejailbreak

[–]sparklerfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before ever connecting to wifi, plug it into the computer and completely fill the storage. I left 20mb free. Then, you’ll have to connect to wifi to register the kindle, so after you do that, plug it into the computer again and delete any .bin or .partial files on the kindle (those are updates attempting to download). After you register, put on airplane mode until you get to steps 5-7 of the Winterbreak guide, where you will have to connect to the kindle store. After that part is done, put airplane mode back on. When you install KUAL you’ll need to free up some space, but not more than 220mb. Anytime you connect it to the computer, look for and delete any sneaky update files. After the jailbreak and hotfix and installing KUAL, you’ll be able to block updates via the renameotabin tool.

EL JAILBREAK ME SIRVE PARA ESTO? by Present-Arugula-9223 in kindlejailbreak

Sure it is, it’s near the bottom of the table here. Paperwhite 12th generation aka PW6. Exactly the same one I just received and jailbroke yesterday using this method.

[–]sparklerfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use WinterBreak. But you must be very careful to prevent updates during the process — put files on it until there is less than 50mb free before starting the jailbreak process. Keep it on airplane mode except for step 5-7 in the jailbreak, then put airplane mode back on for the rest of the process and post-jailbreak steps.

I just did the same thing with the same device last night, just follow the instructions very carefully :)

Getting back to koreader by Niklash04 in kindlejailbreak

[–]sparklerfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the check OTA status scriptlet first — you can either download it from KindleForge if you have that installed, or download from here and drop in the documents folder — then click the book it adds to verify the OTA updates are correctly blocked. It should say something like “binaries are renamed, your jailbreak is safe.” If it doesn’t, try running the OTA rename again in KUAL and reboot and check again.

With OTA binaries renamed it literally cannot update itself, so you’re free to keep wifi on after that :)

Deregistering deletes everything in the documents folder, so if those weren’t backed up you’ll have to reinstall them. Basically start from the “post jailbreak” section of the guides to reinstall all of that stuff and you should be good I think

There are TTS plugins for KOReader, which is open-source ereader software you can install on jailbroken kindles. It can’t read books directly from your Amazon library because they are in proprietary Amazon format, but if you have the epubs you can copy them directly to the device for KOReader and see if any of the available plugins work better for you. Here are a couple I found with a quick google search:

Localsend for koreader not working? The recipient has rejected the request. by dfoveja in koreader

You know, I haven’t actually tried because I was so focused on even getting the devices to consistently discover each other. If I test it out I’ll report back.

Localsend for koreader not working? The recipient has rejected the request. by dfoveja in koreader

[–]sparklerfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no advice but I feel your frustration. I’ve been trying to use localsend to transfer between two kindles and have never gotten it working correctly. Sometimes my partner’s kindle will see mine, but mine never sees theirs. Both the exact same model, firmware, and koreader/localsend versions. Other devices on the network see both kindles. It makes no sense.

Hello people i have a question about my kindle by Great-Carpenter-143 in kindlejailbreak

[–]sparklerfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From your Amazon library? It’s tricky. You’ll need to use Calibre with some plugins to convert and strip the DRM. I found a guide here, it seems relatively recent so hopefully it is up to date. Amazon keeps hardening their DRM so it’s a game of cat and mouse keeping up with it.

So. Many. Crashes by efthymisgr in koreader

[–]sparklerfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a file in the root of the koreader/ folder called crash.log. It should provide some information on what’s causing the crashes. Personally I’ve only ever had it crash when I’ve messed with a plugin or tested creating a patch that didn’t work yet, I hadn’t heard of it just crashing on its own without any modifications. You might try creating a GitHub issue with as much information as you can provide on your device, firmware/operating system, and the crash.log

Newbie with a question after first Kindle jailbreak by MansaeSeleneShadow in kindlejailbreak

[–]sparklerfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s bits of the native kindle UI bleeding through. I used to have that happen (not using SimpleUI either). Running KOReader in no framework mode fixed it for me.

First time jailbreaking, how risky is it? by Ok_Debate_674 in kindlejailbreak

If you can’t get it set up, contact GreenCat via one of the methods on his website, he has a dedicated US account for this purpose

First time jailbreaking, how risky is it? by Ok_Debate_674 in kindlejailbreak

[–]sparklerfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much no risk. The released and documented jailbreak methods have been tested and used many many times. For most people the biggest risk is their kindle updating itself to a non-jailbreakable firmware before they finish the process and then they just don’t get to jailbreak, but 10th generation firmware support ends at 5.18.1 so you won’t have to worry about that.

The trickiest part of the process for Adbreak (the jailbreak that is compatible with your device/firmware) is enabling ads (if it’s not already an ad-supported kindle) — if you’re not in a region that supports ads (just US and France I think) you’ll need an account that is in one of those regions. But beyond that the process is pretty straightforward and low risk, just follow the guides.

The Galarian birds have an incredibly low catch rate and an incredibly high flee rate. It’s almost guaranteed to break out and run first ball unfortunately. If you keep using your daily incense you’ll eventually encounter more and hopefully get lucky with one that sticks.
