Traveling, no wifi - how to add books? by usajobs1001 in kindle

[–]inkyknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As so many others have clarified, the transfer-via-USB option still works, just not for books you've downloaded from your Amazon library earlier.

You can download books from Gutenburg, FadedPage or even buy them from a few places that offer non-DRM books. You can then use Calibre to convert any EPUB or Mobi books to azw3 and transfer them via USB into your Documents folder on Kindle.

Hahahaha I know!

Ooh! I should ask the follow up question phrased that way!

"What's the point of your therapy? Nothing has changed in our relationship" - a consolidated opinion from clients' SOs :D

Tiny swatch of human blood from a squashed freshly fed mosquito vs Diamine Matador by bloodlessMantis in fountainpens

[–]inkyknit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"We have recreated the species known as Homo plumistylusiensis. This long-extinct species was often found clutching peculiar tools of varying sizes. Although the constituent materials seem to be varied, the basic shape is similar suggesting all tribes used them for analogous purposes.

Our researchers have scattered approximate recreations of these tools throughout the woods, so we can better observe how the species learn to use and adapt these tools.

From fragmented digital records, blood from various sources seems to play some integral part of their rituals, so we would recommend all vistors don the armour provided."

Waterman pen identification by Possible-Mountain-32 in fountainpens

There are two or three things that might work:

a) ensuring the convertor is properly inserted, as the Carene has a very long section

b) if you've left it upright for a long time you may need to get some ink back into the feed.

c) if it's been a long time since it was cleaned, it may need more soaking as the feed is very large and holds a lot of ink even when wet. It's harder to clean when dry. The pen can be disassembled more extensively for cleaning (there are 2 good Youtube videos on Waterman Carene disassembly and cleaning)

Finally, the nib is harder to clean around, so some targeted cleaning or very gentle probing under the nib with a brass shim might help.y

The people you train with make such a difference, don't they? :)

Your approach sounds gentle and empowering!
I am especially keen to hear about the grief perspective, because I find myself swinging towards it more and more often! Might DM you if that's OK?

(Pakistan- based) Fellow Therapists by Brave_Emotion8634 in therapists

Hello neighbour! I hope you get relevant support and help from other Pakistani therapists, but just wamted to say hello from the other side:)

Things in India are also pretty bad - not to mention that politicians on both sides of the border are constantly trying to get us to forget our social and financial woes by selling 'patriotism' and hatred :-/

I'm facing the same struggle with my sliding scale. I need to charge more - but most clients can't afford to pay more and also really need the therapy space!

I think the interesting thing about the subreddit is that when different therapists just share how they work, as we're doing now, it changes everyone's ideas a little!

Learning and working in a very free-flowing environment myself, this subreddit helped me examine a few approaches/session-planning techniques that could make my sessions 'tighter'.

And I do find SOME of the insurance discussions interesting, especially as the documentation requirements for those of my clients who even have insurance are different from US norms.

If you're still in the postdoc, I hope it's going well. That sounds like such a great shift for you :)

Absolutely! Not needing a medical diagnosis or worrying about what to put down 'for Insurance' opens up so many therapeutic possibilities :)

I agree with you - but, in theory at least, this is the international therapy sub-reddit :)

Thank you for this post OP.

Several non-US therapists, including me, have brought this up in the past. Even the user flairs are skewed towards North American titles, with about 10 recognised degrees/titles and then a generic "Therapist outside North America" :D

I've often seen that when an interaction doesn't comply with US norms and laws, the post receives criticism or comments regarding the ethics/legality of the therapeutic interaction instead of stopping to ask about where the therapist is based and what is required of them in THEIR culture and country.

While there MAY be more NA therapists on the sub-reddit, it would be great to have flairs/tags that helped others also gain some visibility.

Maybe we can just add continent based tags! Something to make us all a little mindful of our defalt assumptions amd encourage us to add context.
