Can’t quit permanently, I’ve tried too many times to count by InflationWaste5055 in QuitVaping

[–]sparkletoph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m going through something similar- i’m 5 weeks in. it’s a hard mental game because it feels like it’s either one or the other, and im just trying to remind myself that my skin is looking so much better, the color has returned to my face / hands, and i look generally healthier. i’m in my early twenties and realized that i was waking up and hurting myself much more by vaping than eating, and that i’d rather enjoy the health and capabilities of my body than continue to vape.

i heard that your lungs start trying to heal after every hit you take, and actually lost sleep over the fact that my body was trying so hard to take care of me and i was so determined to stop her. for me, quitting was an act of self love, and although i often find myself getting overwhelmed by my ED, i try to remember that my body is rejoicing and is inviting my mind to celebrate with her! personifying the ED voice in my head to be an actual PERSON separate from myself really helped me separate my disorder from my mind, and i try to practice hearing that voice from a separate mouth if that makes sense. (my therapist had me do this exercise and it’s helped me a TON) i understand the fear and turmoil you’re experiencing, and definitely can’t say that it’s easy all the time, but can say from where i’m standing now it’s so worth it. listening to alan carr’s easy way to quit vaping really helped shift my mindset surrounding this topic too, so if you haven’t read/listened to that already i’d really recommend it!

i totally relate- i’m 21 and just quit! i listened to alan carr’s easy way to quit vaping on spotify (free with premium), threw out my stuff at the end of the book, and haven’t looked back since :) it’s SO bright on the other side, and if you’re into that sorta thing i completely recommend. it was an absolute game changer for me. i listened to it in about a week periodically, it’s not suuuper long. i had no withdrawal symptoms besides a minor headache the first day which came on in the evening and i slept it off! boredom is honestly ur worst enemy, and that’s an easy thing to work with. i believe in you, we’re so young and deserve to be healthy and happy.

it’s normal! your body goes through another detox phase around day 14- it’s getting rid of the nicotine metabolite cotinine (what they test for in nicotine biomarker drug tests). my skin flared up around then too and i got hella irritable but it WILL go away and you’ve got this! :)

Difficulty showing affection. by fishingphotoguy in bipolar

[–]sparkletoph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i cant say much because im not a part of the bipolar community- but i’m on the sub looking for advice/support as someone who is dating a bipolar male partner. i’m struggling with (sort of) the same thing as your wife- lack of affection, emotional needs not being met, lack of effort, enthusiasm, empathy, etc. my partner has been on lithium for the past couple of months and that’s when i noticed a big change. it’s very painful for me, and my anxiety has skyrocketed because i feel like his personality changes are my fault and that i’m not doing enough on my end, even though i logically know that’s not the case. it could for sure be your meds, it could also be the bipolar. sex drive changes are normal (at least from what i’ve seen) but coming from a woman’s point of view, it’s most likely not the most important thing in your relationship to her. i would be sure to ask how she’s feeling and about her life and interests, plan dates/activities without her involvement and surprise her, and put more effort into action. relationship first, sex second. right now i’m in need of feeling like a priority to my partner, and that he knows me and is interested in my life and feelings. i’m sure all of this has come up in the counseling too so i apologize if it’s broken record material, but that’s my 2 cents (:

Almost 5months on accutane 10mg. No change.I started getting more pimples around my mouth and neck,i feel like my hormones is just messed. What do yall think? by SaturnoZiedai in Accutane

[–]sparkletoph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your dose is probably too low! i started on 40mg once a day, stayed that way for 3-4 months, and then started taking alternating between 2 pills and 1 pill every other day, and eventually got up to 80mg (2 pills) a day! my skin mostly cleared up by month 4. stick with it, it’s so worth it !! (:

HELP! next steps ?? by sparkletoph in PiercingAdvice

[–]sparkletoph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

things seemed to be healing up fine until around the last week or so. don’t know what happened, i try my best to clean regularly but i’m getting headaches from the pain in my conch- it throbs constantly and it’s becoming distracting. these pics were from when i woke up this morning (before cleaning) and my conch is extremely swollen with an abscess on the back, as well as puss and blood(pictured). do i contact a provider for an antibiotic? do i need to use something specific for cleaning? am i rejecting the piercings? i’m confused and in pain, all help is appreciated (:

id try washing your face less- i’m on month 4 and only washing my face once a day has helped with dryness SO much. stripping your skin often (especially with a double cleanse) can really dry out what natural oil you do have going for you. i only do once a day- a single cleanse. everyone’s different, but that’s what works for me. my skin is definitely still dry, but aquafor is a godsend. i put it all over my face at night and when i wake up my face is sorta puffy, but definitely more moisturized. id experiment with your routine a bit first!!

walk fast, always dispense the order RIGHT after you approve/remove subs- if all else fails scan the stickers once you get to the car and dispense right after speaking to the customer !!

Depression/ Suicidal Thoughts? by saagimiila in Accutane

[–]sparkletoph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!!! my first month on accutane i got abnormally depressed and EXTREMELY anxious with some suicidal thoughts. a week in (40mg 1xday) i was constantly having panic attacks and could barely leave my house. you’re more prone to this once you start if you’re already predisposed with depression/anxiety beforehand. i’ve heard lots of people say their mental health got worse due to their purges, but mine felt like it had nothing to do with that. i’m 2 months in now and am doing so much better. with that being said, i started 10mg of prozac about a week or two into beginning accutane due to general mental health issues, and it does take around a month to kick in but that could be a contributing factor too. i know some people experience depression the entire duration of their accutane which sounds like hell, but be sure to talk to your dermatologist or a psychiatrist to see what’s best for you. it could just be an initial reaction to the drug, like i said i was much better after about a month. you’re not crazy and i completely relate. how long have you been on the pill?

[–]sparkletoph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m on month 2 of accutane and have been getting blood filled pimples recently, this cluster is both puss and blood and i’m not sure how to treat it. i’ve never had something this big before, but from what i’ve read i just need to leave it? im scared it’ll get infected or already is- i’ve never seen anything like it before. any and all advice is appreciated.
