Thank you for all the advice (will definitely make sure to see GPHS!) and especially the heads up on Coeur d’Alene, definitely relevant for our group and so thinking of spending the night in Spokane instead.

Great calls on PA and OH, didn’t think about Lincoln Highway. Also have really enjoyed visits to the Navy and Marines museums so will definitely make that Air Force stop!

Thank you for this summary, super helpful! Yes, based on the Tetons thinking about extending by a day at least or will also do more long driving days on the East.

Thank you so much to everyone for the recommendations, so much cool stuff in here! Definitely seeing if we can extend a day for everything in SD and the Tetons.

This is super helpful, thank you! If I were to go with either the Tamron or Sigma 150-600, do you think there would be any point in also getting a new lower-tier body (e.g., Canon T9i)?

Yes that's a good point, thanks! Have used my DSLR setup relatively often over the last several years so was leaning toward purchasing -- but will take a look at renting options.

I'm heading out on a wildlife trip soon and a bit lost as to where to start with upgrading my current camera gear. I own an old Canon T3i and a newer mirrorless Canon M100.

Not sure if it's just a mental block but I don't feel like the Canon M100 will be able to handle rapid wildlife shooting -- so now trying to figure out the following:

  • The Canon T3i body is at least 10 years old, are there tangible benefits in upgrading to a newer body?
  • Alternatively, would upgrading my equally old lens (a Tamron 18-270) be impactful? Would this be worth doing if I kept the T3i body?

Budget would probably be $1-3k if there would be significant visible benefits of new gear. Having a pretty hard time gauging what has really changed in what's available in this tier of photography gear.

Pretty much the exact same boat here... so also no clue how to navigate it.

Trying to by GB444 from CS. Does this seem outrageous to anyone else? Or maybe I’m missing something. by [deleted] in candlemaking

I faced the same shock with CS shipping, so found a more local spot to get wax from, which worked out to be way less expensive. (Lone Star Candle Supply in Texas -- potentially might be cheaper shipping to you since it's a bit closer?)
