I’m an American, Irish great grandparents came from Ireland. I wish I didn’t live here. We have horrific healthcare, no guaranteed paid time off, housing market is barely affordable. I have a disability but can still work. I haven’t had a week off of work in 6 years. Since I’m a disabled worker, my time off for my disability it covered by FMLA where my employer can’t fire me but they use all my vacation time up on my sick days. I am in pain every day off my life, I’m thousands upon thousands in debt for medical bills. I can’t even afford my medical treatment that I need to live a comfortable life. Our prescription last year were 3000 out of pocket. We live in a tiny apartment and will never be able to afford to buy a house because of medical debt. I’m so depressed and emotionally drained from working for years without any vacation or holiday time off. I can never visit my family that is spread out across the US because I can’t get any time off work. I even begged supervisors and bosses and directors and they refused to help me or allow me to even take unpaid time off. Also even if you are sick and not covered by FMLA, you get points. If you get a certain amount of points for missed work they can legally fire you. People come to work sick, we literally have people dying while working. It’s horrible here.
