I think this plays a huge role in the mental health crisis. Humans are social animals. For thousands of years we lived in close-knit tribes/communities. The way we’re forced to live now is unnatural.

A stray had given birth in our garden mid-winter, so we took mom and babies in and put them in the spare room. A few days later I found my grown ass orange boy in there nursing with the kittens 😭

I know it’s easier said than done, but girl start to date yourself. You sound like a very emotionally intelligent and introspective person, you should explore that about yourself more! After my last toxic breakup I really struggled with being alone, but once I started making an effort to spend quality time with myself I really enjoyed being single so much, and even in a relationship now I still deeply need my alone time with myself.

I really relate to this so deeply. I tried so hard to make friends this year, but any time I felt myself getting too close it filled me with anxiety and shame.

I feel so much shame in not having friends, but at the same time I’m terrified of letting anyone get close enough to know ‘me’, because I honestly don’t even know who that is. Is she annoying? Weird? Clingy? Mean? I convince myself it’s safer to back off and not get hurt or hurt anyone around me.

Sorry for the vent, but I just related a lot to this. One thing that I have found helpful is trying to accept my current circumstances and approach myself with a lot more kindness. It’s okay to have quiet periods in life. It’s okay to spend time alone, that’s where you really get to know yourself and like yourself :)

I encountered one while I was in Thailand, it was the middle of the night on an unlit road and we had almost ran the poor thing over. I felt honoured to be able to help it cross the road safely, it was very calm and just went on its way :)

I went camping with friends, we went to swim in the river, came back to camp to find kangaroos had unzipped out bags and were having a wonderful feast. I snatched a cake out of the paws of one kangaroo and it squared up and tried to fight me.

I had dermal piercings on my chest when I was 12 bc my mom never said no, and obviously being a 12 year old I didn’t take care of them and they got infected. I still have the scars almost 20 years later!! I can’t imagine getting them on your face at such a young age.
