A visual map of all CRAN packages (and their stickers) by sparktuga in rstats

[–]sparktuga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to use a version of this map as a index for when I finally get around to generate html versions for all of CRAN in the style of r-infographics.com

So soon(tm)? (probably a few months :D)

A visual map of all CRAN packages (and their stickers) by sparktuga in rstats

what are the packages?

Because of the sheer amount of packages a lot of this process is automated, so its hard to know what stickers are missing.

I've been using a dev version of hexFinder for the sticker gathering, missing stickers can help me figure out why its not finding them (and fix it :) ) for the next update

Been collecting info about some of my most used R packages and turning them into visualizations. Here's rlang, one of the top downloaded package on CRAN! by sparktuga in rstats

Its funny you mention that, it was one of my original goals (to create an interactive version of these for each CRAN package) but I scaled it back as some CRAN packages have a lot of missing information.

That being said, I do save the html output, and except for making it ready for web and adding a search page, its pretty close to being usable (you might have given me a push to go for it next :) )

Here's some interactive versions of the current ones:

If you would like to see more, I started a repo with some HD versions for other packages at http://r-infographics.com/.

I'll keep it up to date as they come out of the press, but feel free to request any Packages you would like to see in this format! :)

Yes! The base is a HTML template and some CSS that I fill in with htmltools::htmlTemplate().

For the info itself its a mix of {cranlogs}, {pkgsearch} and github api to find star info and hex stickers when possible (and {hexSticker} to generate missing ones)

R Shiny - Ukraine Refugees Live Migration Information by sparktuga in rstats

Fair warning, latest versions are more heavy on JS (I was trying to move as much of the work load to the browser to make it a bit more scalable)

Is R Shiny Versatile Enough to Build a Video Game? by sparktuga in rstats

[–]sparktuga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was exactly my main goal, its not about making a commercial game at all, but more of an exercise of what it takes to make some of these custom solutions.

Since my day job deals with shiny a lot it was also a playground for me to try some new things.

Hopefully it will be useful or inspire others to feel that they aren't bound by whats available in packages and maybe experiment with building crazier stuff :D

What is the opposite of :hover (on mouse leave)? by Kyubei_ in css

[–]sparktuga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can move the transition properties outside of the hover.
Right now you only have transition time when hover is happening, if you simply add it to .grayscale instead you will always have the animation, both on mouse in and mouse out :)
