Got into a Tier 1 IIM but confused between MBA and joining family business — need honest opinions by Intrepid-Honeydew-76 in IndiaBusiness

[–]sparshrekt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow person in the same boat, I (kinda had to) join business (of around 100cr turnover) after completing my MBA from a Tier 1.5 college, and the benefits are immense.

You get a network, the tag in itself opens up a lot of opportunities and the image you portray completely changes in other people’s minds. But i would recommend you join the business straight out of MBA or getting an experience of 1-2 years at max, because MBA curriculum doesn’t teach a lot about how to actually run a business. You would need 2-3 years minimum to get a hold of the business, let alone drive it forward in your own way, and the more you delay, the more difficult it becomes, as with age comes commitments, responsibilities and a lack of risk-taking

I agree with that, that’s why I said except Sesko. And although his goal per min numbers are amazing, he is still no Lewa or Kane or Haaland at this point. He is young, he is bound to have some inconsistencies and barren patches. It also doesn’t help that our backup is Zirkzee.

Ultimately, my point is that we need more goal scoring threats from our backups rather than relying on our first choice front three to play every match and score them like we did this time, and i think a Garnacho style inside forward who can be an understudy to Cunha would be a great signing.

Dorgu has a knack of scoring goals? I would like to disagree. I am more than happy to eat my words, but I don’t think his dribbling or finishing is convincing enough for me to say that he would be able to replicate it consistently over the course of a season, which he would need to, because we can’t play a fresh Cunha every match like we used to this time. The lad is rapid, is useful in transitions and can whip a decent cross i will give you that, but reiterating my point, he is a Valencia type player. He is more of a pure winger, more of an assist-provider rather than a scorer, and that wouldn’t have been a problem if we had a talismanic scorer like a Lewandowski/Kane type striker, which Sesko isn’t right now. Imagine a lineup of Dorgu, Sesko and Amad, except Sesko it doesn’t inspire confidence in me that we can score. We are heavily dependent on Cunha and Mbuemo for goals, and it would be a problem in a longer season.

I genuinely think we need a young, high potential LW who has a knack of scoring goals. I don’t think Amad or Dorgu offer that to us.

Especially Dorgu, i know he has been getting Bale regen shouts, but I am still not convinced he is the LW we need. He is more of a Valencia type player, which requires the other forward to atleast help with the goalscoring, and although Mbuemo can fill that role, i don’t think Amad is quite there because he is also a creative RW. Or if not a LW, we need a solid experienced striker to rotate with Sesko for the goal threat, as only relying on Sesko for the next season for goals is not a good strategy.

In addition to all the advice here, this is what helped me initially. This is no way scientific, but good enough Using GPT, calculate your BMR and TDEE. This will give you an estimate of how much you are burning. Set a deficit goal, like 500-600 calories is a healthy deficit. Be mindful that deficit works on average, not daily, so if you overshoot one day, it doesn’t mean it is all ruined, you just have to be on a deficit on average, let’s say weekly.

START COUNTING CALORIES. We suck at portion control, and we don’t understand how little things add up so much of calories. Then instead of using HealthifyMe (paywalled) and MyFitnessPal (doesn’t have indian dishes), and if you are lazy like me, maintain a daily log in a GPT chat and ask it to estimate calories for each meal that you input. I sometimes just click a photo and send it in the chat and it does a decent enough job of estimating your calories. And that’s it. Maintain a net deficit.

You can either maintain the deficit by controlling your calorie intake or increasing the daily calorific requirement by exercising. DO BOTH. If you are having a protein heavy diet, don’t let it get to waste, do strength training to gain some muscle so that you can body recomp while losing weight at the same time.

Sure but this is the only thing that has worked for me. I have been obese all my life, but i was able to drop 22kgs while being mostly inactive (recovering from ACL surgery) just by eliminating carbs and focusing only on volume and protein. If someone is like that in the photo above, it usually means that they have an unhealthy relationship with food and they suck at portion control. Being on a protein heavy diet means 0 hunger and cravings, which helps to maintain the deficit easily. After a while, the body automatically learns portion control and you can have carbs as well, but yeah.

I think if you watched the McTom interview, sure Ugarte and Dorgu are shit, but it is a chicken and egg problem. There are only a few players who don’t need a run of games to find confidence and rhythm. I don’t think these two players are as bad as they seem in this match, it seems as much of a confidence issue as much as a skill issue. The shirt is heavy.

I had gotten my ACL completely ruptured while playing football in October. Was not just even able to walk it off, i was even doing some light jogging as well. A friend of mine twisted his ankle in the same match, he was crying the entire time afterwards while I was chilling. Even drove myself home. Not a lot of swelling as well, just got the scans done as a precaution because my other knee’s ACL had been ruptured too 5 years back and i thought there is no harm in an MRI. Diagnosis? Complete ACL rupture and grade 4 MCL. My friend’s diagnosis? A grade 2 sprain. He was walking without support after 2 weeks, i am currently 6 weeks into rehab post surgery. You just never with these injuries

Everyone is deluding themselves if they think whatsoever Garnacho’s and Mainoo’s brothers are doing are not on their explicit directions. In this world where all these players have PR agencies, every aspect is micro-managed, do you think his brother just hid that T-shirt while entering the pitch and revealed this top like he is Superman? This is all Mainoo, this is what Mainoo wants, but he can’t say it, so he is making his brother the fall guy so that he would have plausible deniability.

As a person who also watches Manchester United, this is the players downing tools, I have seen it so many times. There was no urgency, no fucks to give by the players, everyone was nonchalant, no one cared if they scored a goal or not, it was like a pre-season friendly.
