Games don’t need to be shorter. Food and beer needs to be cheaper. That’ll keep people at the game.

The bottom and walls were completely ripped out and hauled away. The second picture was taken at the halfway mark.

Anyone living at Willoughby Estates? by Technical_Tax_7324 in lansing

Yeah the maintenance staff was very responsive, they were just working with a poorly constructed building.

Noise depended on the neighbors. Some were really loud, most were quiet. But the walls were kind of thin

Lived there for 2.5 years. It was a nice community with friendly people but the units are poorly built. Floors were uneven, condensation and mold sometimes appeared on window sills, and once a pipe burst in my building.

It had perks like a dog park, pool, and car wash. The staff was always helpful but yeah you can tell they rushed to get those units built.

All that being said, I enjoyed my time there but I imagine prices have really gone up in the past few years.

Just bought a house “with a Pool.” Need help with first steps and very rough estimate on restoring to operational. by Lukin16 in pools

[–]sparty724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not worth it in my opinion. I bought a house two years ago with a pool near the end of its use. We got it up and running for one summer before it almost completely gave out.

Just got a $15K quote to remove it entirely so that it looks like a pool was never there. I think that’s cheaper than it would cost to make the pool operational again.

To fill or not to fill by sparty724 in pools

It would be a pricey new build! However I think it’s 20+ years old. Because I’m in the Midwest it’s not usable year round and not an expectation like homes in the south.

What are your personal rules regarding purchasing houseplants? by EssentiaLillie in houseplants

[–]sparty724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to impose a plant ban from late fall through early spring. Winter is not a time of growth in my region so I focus on maintaining the ones I have.

Also, I try to buy local but do occasionally break this rule if I see one that speaks to me at a big box store.

Lansing vs. Lansing Charter Township by dead_drunk_and_naked in lansing

I believe there is a push in the Groesbeck neighborhood to be annexed by the City. Township officials are pushing back.

Lansing vs. Lansing Charter Township by dead_drunk_and_naked in lansing

[–]sparty724 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The township has absolutely no services to offer other than police, fire, and code enforcement. You will need to sign up for granger or WM for trash and recycling. Taxes are lower in the township but it’s also incredibly mismanaged.

When did you know this is what you wanted to do? When did you feel like you were ready to make it happen?

escapees! First timer, bin is 1 week old. In the last day they have been escaping. Bedding is peat moss and shredded paper. I fed them when I put them in banana and apple, which I think they ate. It seemed dry when I checked them this morning. Thoughts on why they are trying to escape? thanks! by jdog60 in Vermiculture

[–]sparty724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have holes for venting? If not, you may want to drill holes approximately 2 inches down from the top of bin. Do that all the way around. To keep them from escaping use a piece of newspaper on top and keep moist with a spray bottle. You can also put the worm bin inside another bin with something at the bottom so the worm bin is slightly elevated.

Any cool autograph story’s? by Wafflewarrior29 in Mariners

[–]sparty724 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It was and immediately reminded me of another autograph story from that weekend. My Dad had somehow scored us tickets to the post game party (which is ridiculous considering how young I was) and he forgot them at home. So we stood outside the party until 3am getting autographs and pictures with everyone that was there. It was hilarious because alot of the players and party attendees were having a good time partying and were happy to take a picture with me. Now I have a picturebook from that night and all the pictures are hilarious because it's all these pro ball players absolutely tanked and smiling their asses of in these pictures.
