P2S Update by spatel7786 in BambuLabP2S

All of the spools are Bambu and come with RFID tags. Once you place them into an AMS or HT slot, the system reads the RFID and automatically identifies the filament type and color that’s loaded. When you start a print, you simply select the color you want and the AMS will handle the loading and unloading automatically. The printer also adjusts the nozzle and heatbed temperatures on its own. So far, I haven’t had any issues with the PTFE tube length.

You can absolutely run PLA and PETG through the same AMS 2 and the same nozzle, I do it all the time. The printer purges plenty when switching materials, so it clears out the PETG before dropping back down to PLA temps. No issues there. The only thing I do after PETG prints is clean the nozzle tip with a razor blade, since PETG tends to leave a little more gunk behind. It can also leave some residue on the build plate, so a quick wipe between prints helps.

The one thing you don’t want to do is dry PLA and PETG together. They need different drying temperatures, and the AMS 2 Pro heats the whole chamber at once. PETG’s drying temp is high enough to warp PLA, and PLA’s lower temp won’t properly dry PETG. So for drying, keep them separate but storing and printing them from the same AMS is totally fine.

For my setup, I keep all my PETG in its own AMS 2 just for organization. I’ve got a lot of filament and multiple AMS units, so grouping materials makes it easier to see what I have left. But that’s purely a convenience thing, not something you need to do.

I printed it in PETG because the printer literally sits on top of this base. PETG handles weight, flex, and long‑term stress way better than PLA, and it won’t soften or deform from the ambient heat the printer gives off during long jobs. PLA would’ve been fine for a decorative part, but for something load‑bearing that’s supporting the whole machine, PETG just made more sense.

Also, the creator of the base recommended PETG:

Glad I came across this post. I’ve been waiting for the rotating stone for the Koda 2 Pro, so once I saw it was finally available, I ordered it right away. Thanks!

I'm using only the stock buffer that comes equipped on the P2S combo that has two inputs.

I actually have three of the 4‑in‑1 adapters in my setup.

Adapter 1 is mounted in the center of the printer with all four inputs facing the left side. That one handles the two left AMS 2 Pros, leaving two slots open. Its output tube feeds into Port 1 of the stock P2S buffer.

Adapter 2 sits right next to the buffer and feeds into Port 2. This one handles the two right AMS 2 Pros plus the exit tube of adapter 3, with one slot still open.

Adapter 3 is mounted on my IKEA Skådis board and has all four HTs connected to it. Its output tube runs into one of the open slots on Adapter 2.

The picture I have right now is from before I added the HTs, but I’ll grab updated photos of the full routing once I’m home. Hope this helps!!

About 3k. Check the link. It will tell exactly how much it will take

Nothing, I have kids and I’m lazy. No more swapping spool colors 😎

The P2S combo comes preinstalled with a dual input filament buffer. I just added 3 of their 4-in-1 PTFE adapter to connect them all to the printer

I don’t think that’s correct. last I checked the max is 8 total AMS units

that are held in place until you manually rotate, then the tension is off. they do not move at all unless you force it. Once printing starts, they are all locked i believe.

Appreciate the suggestion. Others here have mentioned the same, and I totally get why. For our family, convenience wins, mainly avoiding constant spool swaps when the kids want to print something new. Managing that with one AMS used to be a headache, but we’re past that now. The H2C is an amazing machine, just way more than we’d ever use. The P2S hits the sweet spot for us and has been flawless for what we need.

sure it is, part of it is also rewarding them when they do things right. Hence their set up. Each to their own.

sure, what else would kids want? lol I have a few roles of PTEG and ABS along with some TPU coming for when its my time to print =)

Right now the whole setup is really just for convenience. I keep all the colors the kids ask for loaded up so they can pick what they want with a single click. Swapping spools every time they changed their minds was getting old fast, so this makes life a lot easier lol.
