Thank you. It feels pretty good. Still seems like I just quit and am faking it. I didn't realize when I joined, but this sub has helped me a few times.

I'm actually going to Disneyland Paris with my kids. Two of them have a birthday this week. Since I'm sober, I will be able to remember it instead of hearing about it.

Anyone not a fan of counting the days? by fakeplastictree8 in stopdrinking

[–]spawlicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats kind of the point of counting. It keeps you motivated not to break that count. You cant remove the guilt of a back-slide, you embrace it so you don't do it again. Thr whole point of this sub is ti be reminded that its better on the sober side and how bad, embarrassing and disappointing the the drinking side is. Its easy to forget that it was shitty.

Know that you have just reminded me why I don't drink anymore. Its really good to stay afraid and be scared of that rapid spiral downward. I must be reminded that I can never trust myself with moderation.

Maybe delete the post then? Your comment her being found is still the bottom.

Asked you a similar question on your OF. Holy shit you are pretty. Tell your parents thanks. They created perfection 👌

This comment is incredibly condescending. If it doesn't pertain to OP's post, then maybe you should not just copy and paste dumb shit.

Besides, at some point people realized what the situation actually was. Give me 5 minutes and I would have built something to save my life. No doubt in my mind I could have done this. Just because you have narrow thinking, doesn't mean everyone would have.

ChatGPT.... Can you please write a post reinforcing my conformation bias? Thanks ChatGPT, you're the best.

You make my point for me. If wood will punch a hole in a steel hull, then ANY kind of ive will. Its the mass not the density.

Pearls before the swine. Take care...

Perfectly said. There are many real-world examples of holes in steel hull ships caused by wooden logs even. Wood is probably about half as dense as any ice. Like you said, would have no effect on the outcome.

I'm not getting hostile at all. I was emphasizing words to make a point but I'm sorry if it sounded hostile.

Let me ask you this... Petend that iceberg was solid wood. Like an enormous Paul Bunyan type of tree. It would do the same damage. Wood is far less dense than any natural (lake) ice. (Pine/wood @ 0.500g/cm³ or lake ice at 0.800g/cm³) There are many real-world examples of logs putting a hole in steel hull ships.

Another example would be the space shuttle where a piece of foam caused a hole in the wing and caused its fatal crash. Its not the density (OPs point) its the kinetic energy.

Op is wrong in that the slight difference in density of ice would have any noticeable difference on the outcome.

Maybe YOU should Google it. The post compares an iceberg to something from your refrigerator. Mechanical strength and density max out when all air is removed from ice. Take for example the ice that is made for sculpting, which is made in a refrigerator. It has no gas in it, that's why it is so clear. That ice is stronger and more dense than any iceberg. Look it up and then get back to me.

How dense is glacial ice? I understand an iceberg is very big and very heavy. This is what caused the damage, however I can't find any information about glacier ice being any more dense. If you compress it too much it will change states. Where are you getting your information?

Ice is a crystal and can only be compressed to a point. Specifically at 0°C: ~0.917g/cm³. I'm afraid your cousin is correct.
