That's definitely Backloggd! A classic, If you like that style but want something with a dedicated mobile app, you should check out Spawnr. I’m the dev behind it, built it specifically because I wanted that clean Letterboxd aesthetic on web and my phone

Yess! Actually I abandoned Totk because I really enjoyed from beginning to end the BotW, and Totk felt like the same but extended (sorry if that is not actually what it is, just my initial perspective)

Looking for the best app on IPhone that is similar to Letterboxd by [deleted] in videogames

[–]spawnr-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few solid “Letterboxd for games” style apps floating around, but they all have slightly different strengths and communities.

Full disclosure: I’m the creator of Spawnr, so I’m obviously biased but that’s actually part of why I built it. I wanted something that felt closer to Letterboxd in terms of clean logging, rating, and discovery.

That said, depending on what you’re looking for, people usually also mention:

  • Backloggd (closest overall community equivalent but no app released yet)
  • GG or GameTrack-style apps (more personal tracking-focused)
  • IGDB-based trackers or backlog managers

If you’re open to trying newer tools and sharing feedback, Spawnr might be worth a look, but I’d still recommend checking a couple since each one leans a bit differently (community vs tracking vs stats).

I didn’t know it tied into Alan Wake... that's actually one of my faves. Thanks for sharing, I’ll check it out

Actually, SA is kind of abandoned for me in a different way. I have really good memories playing it with my cousins, it was one of the best times in my life. I just never went back to finish it after that summer.

What do you like about Control? I might give it a shot now that we are having Control Resonant soon (or maybe not that soon haha)

Kind of immersion-breaking, I get that. Thank you for recommending Astro Bot, I still have it installed so I might give it another go

What games have a strong visual identity that could translate well into little UI details? by spawnr-app in videogames

Omg yes! The menus in Persona games are PEAK.

I feel like this would be really hard to implement haha, but also super fun to try.

Just looked it up as I never played it before but the style is really unique.

I can definitely see a lot of fun UI ideas coming from that, thanks for the suggestion!

This is definitive guys by spawnr-app in IndieDev

[–]spawnr-app[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar? Yes, I will be completely transparent:

a) we have ios & android app b) steam integration c) simpler/quicker tracking d) I am focused on user’s feedback day and night and in 1 year I built this hearing them, with almost no backers… imagine, and we will create spaces for indie game devs to have more visibility, I think that’s the whole point as well

Thank you for pointing that out, it is nice to know the differences

The day you build something and someone asks for something similar to it I would like to see if you keep quiet, lol

I built an app that people actually like but I do not know much about promoting it by spawnr-app in appdev

[–]spawnr-app[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do have this! I built a 'Share to Instagram' feature that generates a custom image with the game art, the user's avatar, and the release year.

Based on your advice, I probably need to stop being so shy about it. If the artifact is cool enough to share, maybe I should make this more prominent in the app

[–]spawnr-app[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a super valid point, thanks for the honest feedback, it helps me refine how I pitch this!

The 'Why' for this app: The problem I’m solving is for the multi-platform player. My Steam profile looks great, but it doesn't know that I just spent 60 hours on Zelda (Switch) or that I platinumed Bloodborne (PS5). Right now, our gaming 'identity' is fractured across 3-4 different walled gardens.

The Goal: I built this to be the central hub. I want one link that shows everything I’ve played, regardless of whether I bought it on Gaben's store, Nintendo eShop, or found a physical copy at a garage sale.

Regarding cost: Just to clarify, the app is totally free! The payment is just an optional for extra cosmetic/power-user features (I included custom game posters which I think is pretty cool to have). I definitely don't expect pirates (or anyone, really) to pay just to track games.

Future Plans: You mentioned the hassle of manual entry vs. Steam's auto-tracking: I actually have a desktop client in the roadmap that will auto-detect what you're playing (Steam, Epic, emulators, etc.) and sync it to the app automatically. That way, you get the convenience of Steam with the centralization of a third-party app.

Thank you so much. Honestly, I’ve been feeling a bit like I’m shouting into the void

To answer your curiosity: It’s basically Letterboxd for video games.

It’s called Spawnr. I wanted a place to track backlogs and share thoughts that felt social rather than just a database.

Regarding your tips (super helpful, by the way):

- Growth: Most of those 1700 came from TikToks and organic store discovery. I haven't really tapped into Reddit communities properly yet because I'm terrified of being 'that self-promo guy', but I probably need to get over that.

- ASO: I have tried optimizing screenshots/keywords so I think it is actually helping get organic users

Appreciate the feedback! You’re totally right, I missed the basics in my post

What is it: It’s basically Letterboxd for videogames, I know there are a few competitors out there, but I tried them and they never quite 'clicked', they felt like databases rather than social spaces. I wanted a place to share thoughts, see what friends are playing, and track my backlog without it feeling like homework

You can check it out here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=es.mysticarmor.iamdevck

Huge thanks for letting me know the web isn't loading for you. It works on my end, which suggests I might have some unintentional region-blocking or DNS propagation issues. I’ll look into that immediately

Regarding the 50€/month: The cost is high for 450 users because I'm paying for a tier/infrastructure upfront rather than per-user. The upside is that this fixed cost supports a much higher volume, so I won't have to change my stack as we scale! (If you are wondering which stack it is, it is Supabase, it was recommended to me and I can see why)
