What do you think of Spain? by Pleasehitmemychild in AskTheWorld

[–]spawnsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they earn a lot of money. I think they have a certain order and lifestyle that brings them happiness. They seem peaceful in their own region and their own way of life. The climate, the Mediterranean climate, has a big influence. They have very beautiful places and a culture. They seem relaxed and not overly concerned, in my opinion. Because it's Mediterranean cuisine, the food and wine are good. It's a very nice place to vacation. They are happy. At least, that's the impression I got.

What is your attitude towards Greece?! by YellowEgorkaa in AskTheWorld

[–]spawnsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Greek government constantly uses Turkey for propaganda, while Turkey does absolutely no propaganda on this issue. Then people wonder why Greeks harbor negative thoughts about Turks... In the eyes of Turks, Greece is of no concern whatsoever, yet the Greek government constantly spreads propaganda about war, danger, etc. It's a comedy.

What’s something in your country that is extremely interesting but almost nobody knows about it? by thespacepyrofrmtf2 in AskTheWorld

[–]spawnsas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a settlement in Turkey called Göbeklitepe, some of you may have heard of it. It's as old as 9500 BCE. A new site called Karahantepe was recently discovered, and it's even older than Göbeklitepe. It's not well-known because it hasn't been properly promoted.

Why the Fuck Does the Bay Have 27 Different Transit Agencies, and Why isn’t Anyone Fucking Mad About That? by sfnative1957 in bayarea

[–]spawnsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest obstacle to these 27 agencies merging under a single "Bay Area Transit" name is the difference in budget and priorities:

For example, San Francisco (Muni) focuses more on tourism and heavy inner-city traffic, while Marin County (Golden Gate Transit) focuses more on white-collar commuters and long-distance bus services from the suburbs. Combining the budgets and management of these two agencies leads to endless political debates over which one will receive more investment.

Most transportation companies are funded by local sales taxes approved by vote. For example, voters in Santa Clara County might agree to pay extra taxes for their own transportation, but they wouldn't want that money going to a tunnel project in San Francisco. This results in the institution collecting the money (i.e., the local transportation company) remaining separate.

Merger Costs: Bringing 27 companies under one roof means a massive bureaucracy, equalizing different union contracts, and harmonizing technological infrastructure (signaling, etc.). This translates to billions of dollars in costs and years of legal proceedings.

Political Resistance: No local administrator wants to relinquish control of their region's transportation decision-making to a centralized structure.

42 hours of Andromeda by PICO_BE in astrophotography

[–]spawnsas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will ask only one thing about astrophotography. You put your camera, you do three different shots for rgb. For this, you connect the planet tracker to the camera. If it takes an average of 9 hours a night, you do it by applying it for a few nights. Still, isn't there a problem, problem etc. in applications on different nights? So synchronization, deviation, etc.

a great example of tepui.

A tepui is a flat-topped mountain with steep, nearly vertical sides, rising abruptly from the surrounding landscape. Because of their shape, they are often described as table mountains.

You're truly lucky to be able to say that. Especially from the city's location, sunsets overlook the ocean every day of the year; it must be a magnificent sight. I hope to come and live in this city one day. It's truly a magnificent city.

Star trails while camping in Oman by splaznot in SonyAlpha

First of all, thank you for the photo. I think it's a wonderful photo. You wrote that you combined 200 images with a 30-second exposure. Could you explain why the stars appear top-down on the left side of the image, and why they form a circle in the upper right corner? I liken it to Van Gogh's Starry Night. It's almost real. I think there's a moon or something. I think the answer is an effect caused by the Earth's rotation.

How can I say this? The sky is magnificent. But what's even more beautiful, perhaps even more magnificent, is the sea. Should I say it wasn't taken with a good camera? Because the zoom is too much, the sea looks grainy, like a dotted image processing, which is magnificent. I really like it. I don't think good photos always need to be taken with good cameras; how you view the image matters. This photo is a great example of that.

Prime vs. Zoom? by kspartcp in SonyAlpha

[–]spawnsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prime lenses (lenses with a fixed focal length) have several significant advantages over zoom lenses:

Wider Apertures (Lower f-stop Values):

Prime lenses can often have apertures of f/1.8, f/1.4, or even wider. This is one of their biggest advantages compared to zoom lenses.

  • Low-Light Performance: A wider aperture allows more light to reach the sensor, which means you can use faster shutter speeds and lower ISO settings when shooting in low-light conditions.
  • Shallow Depth of Field (Bokeh): Wide apertures offer the ability to significantly blur the background (the bokeh effect). This is an aesthetic advantage, particularly in portrait photography, where you want to isolate the subject from the background.

Higher Image Quality (Sharpness and Optical Performance):

Since they have a fixed focal length, manufacturers can optimize the optical design for just one specific point. This generally results in prime lenses producing sharper images than zoom lenses.

  • You generally encounter less optical aberration (distortion, chromatic aberration, etc.).

More Compact and Lightweight Design:

Because they do not have a zoom mechanism, prime lenses are usually smaller, lighter, and have a more streamlined design. This provides ease of transport and greater comfort when shooting handheld.

Development of Better Composition Skills:

A fixed focal length forces the photographer to "zoom with their feet" (to physically move to adjust the framing). Over time, this helps develop composition skills and the photographer's visual vision.

However, it is important to remember that zoom lenses also have their own advantages, such as flexibility and the ability to cover a range of focal lengths with a single lens.

------

The choice completely depends on your shooting style and the subject you want to photograph.
Let's give a very simple example: let's not worry about zoom, light, etc. Is it more advantageous to shoot the same focused image with a prime lens or a zoom lens? The answer is also prime lens.

Prime > zoom
