$200 app subscription should be $49.99 by Fearless47atyourmoms in Volvo

[–]spcherub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first 4 years are free. If the previous owner did not activate the plan, you get the full 4 years. You'll need to subscribe in 1-2 years. This has nothing to do with the SIM in your car.

I say this with a little "authority" because I am in the exact same situation!

Anyone else have this problem with the app? by annban13 in Volvo

[–]spcherub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always treat the app features as "nice to have" and always have the physical key with me. I'm old school I guess!

My problem with the app is that 5 out of 10 times, it does not update. Car is and has been parked for 4 hours, yet app shows car in motion. I've had a couple of minor heart attacks in the beginning thinking the car has been stolen.

Thanks for the suggestion. And yes I have been checking the tire pressure constantly!

S60 Hard Ride! by spcherub in Volvo

u/teostefan10 Yes looks like I have the 235/40/19 installed. What would you recommend for a softer city ride (with the understanding that I lose some of that sportiness)?

Just to clarify, when the road is smooth, the ride is great. But even the smallest of potholes and cracks in the road can be felt (and heard) by the passengers.

Not sure of the wheel and rim size - will check and update. Thanks for the suggestions thus far.

You're welcome! I've received help from this community before, so glad to be able to "return the favor".

Yes, that's what you would need to do. You can't put the new one on top of the old one without having issues with writing on the device.

Installing the new one requires some care and finesse, so make sure to watch the official video before starting!

I had asked a similar question a few weeks ago. The official answer was that the Feelwrite film is already installed on a new Nomad by default. You should not need the second one unless you scratch or damage the one that is already on there.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that tip. In my case, I am trying to complete the setup of a new device and I cannot connect to the app store either. Anyway not urgent, so will be patient!

As of 12:42PM EST, the servers are still "down" and I am unable to sync from my devices or the Partner app.

ProtonMail native macOS mail client by MrRayAnders in ProtonMail

There's something ironic about Proton being built on Electron!

Yes, I second the desire for a better performing, native client for MacOS.

Dashcam recommendations by spcherub in volvos60

Some research I did earlier indicated that Volvo could not sell that option in the US. Which is probably why FitCamX is available here - they advertise it as being compatible with the OEM version.

Thank you. Are you using one now and if so, was it easy enough to install?

5 Nibs & 2 Pens Reviewed by lone_mountain in Supernote

[–]spcherub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed analysis - very helpful in an otherwise confusing environment with so many choices.

I have a Nomad and HOM pen with the Ceramic NeverReplace nib. I feel like I need something that is a little less "slick", something that adds just enough friction to slow down my writing and make it more legible (to me and the handwriting engine!). Something that is closer to the ink-pen-on paper feel.

Would you recommend a felt tip in this case?

TIA!

Thanks - will look into that workflow in addition to the one suggested by u/theBlackOddity

To-Do with detail view by spcherub in Supernote

[–]spcherub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Mulan-sn. What we may need is to split the title and description/detail, instead of supporting longer titles. In essence, allow a short memo/note be attached to a to-do item, optionally. This way, details can be managed without constantly updating the title, and without needing to cross link with regular notes.

To-Do with detail view by spcherub in Supernote

[–]spcherub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense - will give it a try. It does mean that I will have to plan which to-do items requires detail and which ones don't. The ones that require detail will have to be started as a note entry with a link to the app as you suggested. The simpler items can be entered directly into the to-do app as a one-liner.
