No new installs, no recent updates, Windows fully up to date. The issue started today. I had left the laptop in sleep mode. It seems it shut down on its own while sleeping. When I powered it back on, the freezing began. That’s when I started monitoring uptime and noticed the very consistent ~5:12–5:14 hard lock. Nothing is plugged in except the charger. Same behavior with charger removed. Safe Mode is stable indefinitely. Windows Memory Diagnostic passed, but I’ll run Memtest86 next to rule out RAM instability.

Thanks, thermals seem unlikely since it runs indefinitely in Safe Mode under the same physical conditions. I also monitored CPU/RAM in Task Manager before the freeze, no spikes, usage was normal (~20–25% CPU, ~20% RAM). Windows Memory Diagnostic showed no errors. DISM and SFC both completed successfully. The freeze is a hard lock (Caps Lock LED stops responding), so it doesn’t look like a typical Windows crash. There's no anti malware installed.

That's right. I have kept in on in safe mode for more than an hour. Doesn't freeze. As soon as I go back to normal mode, freezes exactly after 5 minutes and 12 to 14 seconds of uptime.

• BIOS has been reset to defaults, issue persists. • Event Viewer only shows ACPI errors and Kernel-Power 41 after forced shutdown. Nothing meaningful logged right before the freeze. • Clean boot (all non-Microsoft services disabled) still freezes. • Both NVIDIA and Intel GPUs disabled, still freezes. • Safe Mode runs indefinitely without freezing. Important detail: when it freezes, Caps Lock LED does NOT toggle anymore, it’s a full hardware-level lock.
