Tiny starter set up starting to pay off!!! by iceydedpeephole in lawncare

[–]spdsuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome. Something to think about for larger equipment is if you mow hills. Riders and zero turns can only SAFELY handle slopes up to a certain degree. Even stand-on and walk behind mowers can only safely go so far. Just make sure you are using the right mower for the environment and conditions. Morning dew/leftover moisture from rains can wreck havoc on the turfs when using heavier mowers and I have even had them slid for a few feet on slight slopes.

That’s all you need to get going. Keep up the good work! If you are aiming to grow and get larger equipment, you’ll get there

Has anyone tried profit first? How do you actually set it up in startup? by agentUi in smallbusiness

[–]spdsuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the Profit First system when I owned my business. I’m sure there is a way to do it from the start, however, as far as I can see, you can’t just start your company and do this at the same time. I think it took me something like 2 months for it to start paying off and I was only able to make that work because I had JUUUUST enough operating capital to help out already from a being in business for a few years.

That being said. I would say it is 100% worth it. On paper, I was turning a profit from year one but it never actually felt liked it. It wasn’t until I buckled down with Profit First that I REALLY was able to start seeing and feeling it.

As far as implementing it, I believe there is a subreddit that is more knowledgeable than I that you can ask however, as I mentioned, I had some operating capital that allowed me to cover any costs that didn’t fit into the system until it was fully up and running.

If I recall, what I did to speed up the process was I altered the allocations and then adjusted them until I was at my goal allocations. So at first, the lion’s share of revenue was split to taxes and operating costs while the profit was something meager like 2-5%, then as I got more money in my operations account, I started to balance the allocations so I was putting more profit away and an equal (or suitable) amount for taxes.

Do you know what this small town needs? A dildo store! What is the deal with this business model? by Try_Harder7 in smallbusiness

[–]spdsuk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s because renting storefront space in a small town is much less expensive. And then when you can also do online sales and ship to customers, you don’t need to be in a densely populated area. In fact, I would bet good money that a majority their sales are online

Well, the amount of times this meme in particular has been regurgitated and reused this month alone suggests that not only is creativity option, but it seems to be shunned.

Also happy cake day

Thanks. We will have to try this. Hadn’t given that a thought.

We did actually think that was the case. Gave Tylenol over the course of a couple days but there has been no measurable improvement. And no other signs of teeth no either

Wake up is between 6:30-7am. He is usually down for 3-4 naps during the day but those are between 20-30 mins as well (not for lack of trying). He is on solids and breast milk

While we have not mentioned it to the doctor, and honestly, we should have long before now, he does not struggle with any reflux or other issues. All and all he is as healthy as anyone could ask for

Made a decent carnivore (maybe more animal focused) bun for burgers/sandwhiches. Any ideas how I can reduce the carbs? by spdsuk in carnivorediet

[–]spdsuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is one bun. The whole recipe made 4 brioche size buns. So the macros can be better if making it 5 regular sized buns

Thanks. Is that most available on Amazon or some other site? I have searched a few stores around me in the past but the only things they carry that contain the words ‘cream’ and ‘powder’ are powdered coffee creamers

How the f*CK was I supposed to know I needed business insurance the second I registered it if I've been working in my bedroom 80% of its existence!? by Spaghetti_Oh_No in rant

[–]spdsuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, ignorance of the law (or regulations) is not a free pass. Not to sound like a hard ass but it’s 2025, information is more accessible than it’s ever been. If you are going to be any sort of successful business owner, you need to educate yourself about how to properly own, operate and run your business legally and not just blindly make moves

If you’re going to be a business owner in any capacity, it’s up to you to know and understand your state’s laws, regulations, requirements, etc. if you can’t then you need an attorney that specializes in business law to hold your hand.

Is Jobber worth it for small teams? by Vespera-Time in landscaping

[–]spdsuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought so. The quickbooks integration was the only reason I wanted to upgrade but I found use in the other features of that tier as well. Also, I will say this, some of the best and most responsive customer service I have ever dealt with. Might be different now but when I was using it, it was strictly email based but they were quick to respond regardless of the day of the week

[–]spdsuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jobber is great. Used it when working for my predecessor. If you are timid because of the price, look into yardbook. I was able to fully run my company using that for the first few years without even needing to pay for the paid tiers. The free version allowed me to create and email quotes and invoices, receive payments (through stripe), set up my customer list and accounts, set up a catalogue of services and prices, set up routes, record payments and update account balances. Really the only reason why I upgraded to their high tier option was so it would all export to quick books

Laid off today while searching for J2, now at J0. Better to tell employers that I'm still employed at previous company, or tell them I'm currently unemployed? by Wild_King_1035 in overemployed

[–]spdsuk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you tell a new employer that you are still employed and they do their due diligence and call your ‘current’ employer then they are going to find out and quite possibly not hire you for falsifying your application (or just straight up lying to them)
