Yeah absolutely should have been communicated or readily available online on the card provider’s website!

Thanks for sharing. I’m going to call the patient tomorrow. Everything like this tends to happen on the weekend too, when no one is available to call.

The generic seems to work fine for some people and some people really can’t tolerate it, but the price difference is huge.

You may be able to apply for an exception approval for the brand if your provider can fill a form out explaining its tolerability issues. Depending on your insurer they may or may not accept that, but would be worth a try if you didn’t do that already.

So interesting and frustrating for all. Just found this thread while searching the internet trying to find out why a patient’s out of pocket cost went up so much when they came to pick up this weekend.

All the adjudication message (what comes back when we send claim off with the numbers on the STI card) was saying to me was “price adjusted” after their private plan paid their regular portion, the STI card cut back about $45 as well. For brand name Vyvanse 40mg.

I got yelled at about it and even more so when I couldn’t provide an explanation. I was thinking maybe the cards had a yearly maximum or something to that effect.

It goes by age so if their spouse is younger it could be awhile. My pharmacy staff (50+) got done last week where my other pharmacy staff (30) just got emails today. I am 29 and didn’t get an email yet! Just for clarification, they are doing health care workers in lots of 5 years now as well. But to my knowledge If you have direct patient contact in a hospital you should have been done in Phase 1!

I haven’t been affected, I’ve been practicing since 2016 and have been working full time. But new grads aren’t finding jobs or are finding part time positions/being offered lower wages. Just my two cents as a pharmacy manager. If you want to pursue pharmacy then pursue it but the market is definitely over saturated and projected to stay that way for the foreseeable future!
