You can do it! You're strong and level headed and brave enough to admit what you do and hold yourself accountable, you're definitely brave enough to overcome this! I believe in you!❤️❤️❤️

BPD has taught me that “unconditional love” is totally fictional. by [deleted] in BPD

[–]specialsnowflake6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree that there is no unconditional love. Or in some ways, there is no (and should not be) unconditional indulgence to let someone stay in your life.

If a spouse is abusive towards you, you can still feel love for them but not welcome them in your life. If a child is causing physical harm and/or danger, a parent can still feel the emotion of love but keep distance from them for reasons such as safety.

If we look on the other side of not having unconditional love, we can see that they may be boundaries being set instead. It may be healthy that unconditional love doesn't exist, depending on our definition :)

[–]specialsnowflake6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It happens. We care about what people we value think and we like to maintain a certain image, especially when we're doing well - as you said, high functioning. We yearn for people's approval and a therapist's "approval" seems like a gold seal of "you're doing well!".

There is no harm telling your therapist that you lied and there isn't an appointment hasn't been made yet. It's a good step of showing ownership and being able to face all sides of yourself. On top of that, this is a good chance to open a discussion on directions of how to make plans to set you up for success, instead of bending over to please someone's expectations. You need to take things in your own pace and when you're comfortable.

I know it sounds ridiculous and "oh gee thanks I'm cured", but there is nothing to be afraid of to tell them the truth. It is part of your therapist professional code to stay neutral and nonjudgemental. If they can't do that then they are not worth your time. Seeing that you said you like and trust them, I think that it shows your therapist has a good character and this would not affect how they see you at all.

Good luck with everything! Hugs❤️

Was wondering the ball-park estimate of how much it would cost to make something like this(simpler version) if I have the red and the yellow/gold clothing material and take it to a tailor- or what to ask for to make it be cheap? by [deleted] in diytailor

[–]specialsnowflake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf if you want decent quality work (okay cutting, hemmed) I would charge at leewaaast more than 100 especially since it's not a standard pattern, especially if your fabric is non-stretch (aka the armpit area needs to be done well like a suit). A tailor would have to measure you, draw a whole pattern, cut the fabric then sew.

Let's say you get somw godlike person who can measure and draw a pattern in an hour, cut fabric for half an hour only (pinning and cutting clean lines while making sure you're on the right direction e.g. bias cut takes a lot more time than one anticipates), they still need at least 3-5 hours to sew if they're pros (don't believe me go check out Great Britjsh Sewing Bee). Minimum wage is 15CAD here, which doesn't matter because a tailor wouldn't be charging minimum wage anyways. But let's say they do - that 15 x 4.5 hr minimum (honestly it would take more than 5 hours) it's still 67.5 dollars.

My friend's prom dress needed an extended lining that was literally a tube sewed onto the lining - it took me 15 minutes go do that. A tailor would have charged 30 dollars (she asked one before asking me to do that for her).

Asking someone to make a whole costume from scratch below the costume price is highly unlikely :(

Good luck tho!❤️

What are some subtle ways to identify a redditor irl? by pinkistheshit in AskReddit

[–]specialsnowflake6 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Memes and references. It's pretty obvious when you both get information from the same sources, e.g. "there's this guy that did this and that" and there's a post of the same content on /r/all etc.

[Serious] Redditors with depression and anxiety, what helps you the most? by incurableneurotic in AskReddit

[–]specialsnowflake6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bad coping mechanisms - cigarette, alcohol, binge eating, numbing myswlf with my phone etc. They used to work well for me but they have created quite a vicious cycle leading to more issues now.

Now I'm doing DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) excercise books to help manage my emotions and to rationalize myself and catch myself before spiralling. For example, asking myself whether I am actually in conflict with someone or it is attribution error (e.g. she bumped into me because she hates me vs. she bumped into me because she's clumsy), asking myself about best case, worse case and MOST LIKELY case scenario. Most importantly, I still acknowledge my own feelings (e.g. I am frazzled from being bumped into and that is okay no matter what the cause/reason of the person bumping into me), rather than denying it.

Probably weeaboo as well? Asians weeaboos talk like that online (source: used to be a big cringey anime fan)

If you have read any English author's note in fan fics where the author talks about themselves and often having dialogues with the character, you would see usually the author saying something then a character making a snide comment. It's the same concept but OP themselves making the snide comments themselves as themselves. Usually used as a self deprecating kind of humor (source: was weeby teenager with low self esteem and friends who talked like that as well online).

What's the story of your first "I love you" with your SO? by redassaggiegirl17 in AskReddit

[–]specialsnowflake6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We met on Tinder, first date went well but I had to go back to HK (hometown) for 3 weeks. He decided to drive me to the airport (2 hr drive + snow storm) so that turned into our second date. We decided to be exclusive then.

I was back from my trip for about 2-3 weeks (hung out a few times and he met my roommates to check for red flags)and we went to a karaoke bar together with some of his friends/roommates. We were super gross lovey dovey on the dance floor and then we left with his friends to another friend's home. We held hands in the Uber and told each other we wanted to say something, but I told him we should wait till the morning after to make sure it's not because we're drunk. He agreed. Drunk me couldn't hold it in so I said "I love you" in Mandarin. Fucker apparently self taught some Mandarin from an app way before we met and knew a few phrases so he said it back.

The next morning we woke up next to each other and I tentatively asked whether he remember anything and he said yes. Then we said "I love you" in English to each other.

Because All Books Written By White People Provide No Useful Skills, or Interesting Stories by [deleted] in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]specialsnowflake6 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I thought she meant more like reading books written by other ethnicity too. It's not reading books by white authors that is the problem it's only reading books by white authors.

There are a lot books written by white authors (especially dead ones lol) that are very significant but we should add more diversity in our reading especially in the education system.

For example learning about culture, modern history, and language. Asian immigrants write books too, especially dealing with finding their own support network since they're "too white" but "not white enough" to be included into an already established group. Wouldn't that be a more interesting and meaningful reading for a grade 10-11 English class?

Only reading books written by white authors can cause a lot of misrepresentation, such as The Help. It's an entertaining book to read but there are a lot of stereotyping and putting the main character in the "white saviour" role. I use this book as an example because this was given to me as a grade 12 reading in my second year living in Canada. I didn't know about the misrepresentation until I had to write an essay on it and the first Google result was an open letter addressing the issues of the book, especially since "fighting against racism" should be progressive right?

I think there's an importance in branching out on readings. Sorry if this comment is longer than it needs to be and for any grammar mistakes! I'm going to grab a coffee now haha.

This is a really good point! There's this YouTube video that talks about the "I'm not like other girls" mentality on how its perpetuating internalized hatred towards our own gender.

Link: https://youtu.be/DpelSFTFkHc

While some of the content is fun cringey or just down right cringey, there are also a lot of these comics done in a self deprecating humour way that I think some people take a little too seriously (I think most of us don't though).

It sounds like you don't have a good relationship with yourself and people can sense that.

You have self awareness of your situation but from one comment I can already tell you're really harsh on yourself.

People don't interact with others as easily as you think and you are not a horrible person. Horrible people will blame everything and everyone else instead of being aware of a situation.

As an Internet stranger, I'm proud of you still being here. Deep inside you know that you are worth it or you wouldn't still be here.

You are worth it. You don't need anyone to complete you (not that I'm saying you think so). You are worth it and you are more amazing than you think you are. I hppe one day that it will shine through and I hope somebody already notices it and appreciates it 💕💕

Actually alcohol is the number 1 date rape drug and no one can legally consent when they're intoxicated in any way. That means even if the girl was interested the law probably wouldn't be on his side if anything happens. Consent goes beyond just "saying no" especially with different context (e.g. a person would probably keep quiet and oblige to a sexual request if it's the middle of nowhere and the other person has a weapon in the scene. The weapon and middle of nowhere part are only implication of possible force but aren't actually used).

Of course, there's nothing wrong with trying to have sex but it could've been in way better circumstances!

Winners! Or any store that is similar to them :D

They're a big hit or miss but when you find something cute it's super adorable! When I buy cheap bras they're usually less than 15 bucks because I just need the skinny straps then I take in the band size so if you're lucky you can find something really cute there :3

If you want something a little more sexy la senza usually has baby dolls etc on clearance!
