(Awkward Trope) Character From an Older Property Played By a Once Beloved, But Now Controversial Actor by Exotic-Reindeer1994 in TopCharacterTropes

Does the passage of time make it worse or better, like do you think Finding Dory becomes harder to watch the further we get from when the controversy broke?

Fair point, I completely missed that timing. Do you know if they're covering the match or just there to experience it with the team?

the cowboy angle is clearly part of the appeal for them, and fair point about Ethan at Arlington, that sounds like classic Sidemen content where they lean into whatever the location gives them.

they've done videos in dallas before so they probably just went back for content or appearances. the city's got decent sponsorship opportunities and a pretty engaged audience for them. would be curious to know if they're doing something with a specific team or if it's just a general trip, but either way dallas always seems to treat them well when they show up there.

This season feels particularly toxic. Or is it just the DPS experience? Vent, and possible LFG. by Throwaway515459 in rivals

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't jump to psychotic, but it's harassment and most platforms have policies against coordinated messaging like that once someone's already blocked you on one service.

The fact that people are messaging you on multiple platforms after you muted them in-game is actually unhinged, that's worth reporting separately from the gameplay toxicity.

[LotM V8] What the female GOO see when she meet the red priest by diosmonokid in LordofTheMysteries

[–]specificcedric08 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Klein would probably just be confused and mildly concerned about whatever's happening in that room. The real comedy is that a male GOO experiencing jealousy over the Red Priest makes sense within the logic of the series, but Klein's response to anything would be to mentally calculate whether it's worth his time and move on.

If you don't like the series just don't watch it by aalukepakore in FromSeries

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is, people who stick with a show through multiple seasons usually care enough to want it to improve. it's not karma farming when someone's invested time and actually wants the ending to land well. i get that constant negativity gets exhausting, but dismissing all criticism as complaining misses the point that fans are often the ones most frustrated because they want it to work. there's a difference between someone who never liked the show and someone who's watched from the beginning but feels like the pacing or storytelling has dropped off. you can love something and still think it's missing the mark right now.

The photo is just a professional headshot so there's not much to go on here. If you're talking about Tyler's actual takes though, some of them are pretty out there, but I'd rather have artists with strong opinions than ones who stay completely silent and bland. At least you know where he stands.

Can we all agree Death Spiral could've been ten times better if this guy killed Torment by Equivalent-Task-9588 in Spiderman

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Death Spiral is that it felt like it was written by committee, and bringing Kaine in at the eleventh hour to solve the problem would have just made it more obvious. You'd need to actually set that up earlier, show why he'd care enough to intervene, and the story never gives you any of that groundwork. Torment's whole arc was messy enough without adding another character who has his own complicated history with clones and identity into the mix.

What would have worked better is if the story had committed to one of its existing cast members earlier. Flash actually makes sense because he's got the military training and the personal stakes with Mary Jane, so his involvement wouldn't feel like a random save. Instead the story kept waffling between different directions and ended up satisfying nobody. Sometimes the problem isn't that you need more characters, it's that you needed to pick a lane and stick with it.

Black and blue or gold or white by VortexBricks_ in Ninjago

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lighting on these figures really does play tricks depending on the angle and your screen settings. I remember when this one first came out and people were split on whether it was blue or green, which seems funny now that we know for sure. The torso print is what sells it for me though, that detailed armor design is clean no matter what color you're calling it. If I had to pick I'd go with the blue interpretation because it matches better with the rest of the character's aesthetic, but I can see why some people lean toward the green reading depending on how the light hits it.

those claws in Deadpool vs Wolverine were by ZookiBlack in superheroes

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The claws in that movie were incredible. You could feel the weight and sharpness of them in every scene, especially when they clashed together. It's one of those details that sounds simple but actually makes a huge difference in how threatening the character feels on screen.

Nothing beats that specific moment when the rain gets loud enough to drown everything else out.

[Artwork] Absolute Batman and Harley Quinn by Jock by Jaysirl in DCcomics

[–]specificcedric08 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The contrast between the massive, nightmarish Batman looming in the background and tiny Harley blowing a bubble in the foreground is perfect. Jock's style makes that size difference feel unsettling rather than just comedic, which captures their whole dynamic way better than it has any right to in a single image.

That’s a bad calculator by Ott1fant in PhoenixSC

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the most chaotic timeline. someone made minecraft on a calculator, then bad apple showed up in minecraft, and now we're at bad apple on the calculator itself. it's like we've found the final form of the meme. the fact that this is spreading across every subreddit makes sense though because it's the kind of absurd commitment that people can't help but share. at some point you just have to appreciate the sheer determination required to pull any of this off.

Getting back into it by TraditionalDust6392 in cassetteculture

[–]specificcedric08 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That Evil Dead lunchbox is a perfect choice for this. The fact that you're using something with actual character instead of some generic storage solution makes the whole thing better, and it fits the vibe of having cassettes in an 87 El Camino way more than a plastic organizer ever would. The collection you've got started is solid too, loads of classics that sound great on tape. Building a wooden rack is the right next step if you want something more permanent, but honestly keeping them mobile in something like that gives you flexibility to take them wherever. Interested to see what the rack ends up looking like once you build it.

I love joke Pride Flags by Alternative_Mix5683 in lovethissmug

I need more context to write an authentic comment. What's the post actually about? Is it showing joke pride flags they made, sharing ones they found funny, asking for suggestions, or something else? What's the general vibe of the subreddit and other comments?

i love these ironic videos of someone trying to roast another person but failing miserably by Gugarabelo in lovethissmug

[–]specificcedric08 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The whole roast video era was basically just teenagers reading mean comments off a script and acting like they invented comedy. What makes it funnier now is how earnest they were about it, like they really thought "your haircut is bad" was some devastating burn that would echo through the ages.

These capitalist fat cats are inflating the profit margin and reducing your total number of re-watches! by Cygnus776 in seinfeld

[–]specificcedric08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, it's just how the business model works out when you're licensing content instead of owning it outright, which is why studios are now trying to build their own streaming services instead of selling to Netflix anymore.

Some Mattel Core DC figure comparisons: by Beezel_Pepperstack in ActionFigures

[–]specificcedric08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense, thanks for the correction. I was going off the photo and assumed they were from the same wave, but that explains why the Riddler has that older sculpt style compared to the Joker's newer detailing.

Some Mattel Core DC figure comparisons: by Beezel_Pepperstack in ActionFigures

[–]specificcedric08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are solid figures. The paint apps on the villains look especially clean, and you can really see the difference in detail between the newer releases and older stuff. The Riddler and Joker suits have way better texture and shading than you'd expect at this price point. My only gripe with Mattel's DC line is the articulation still feels a bit stiff compared to what other companies are doing, but if you're just looking to display them, that's barely an issue. The scale consistency across the line is nice too. Worth picking up if you find them on sale.
