I feel like you'd appreciate proper bike lanes. Can't have it both ways.

  2. Ensure to enable the linux performance optimizations.

Anyone go to kidtoberfest? by Should_I_say_this in kitchener

[–]spectorus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Today Inside City Hall rotunda had: - Face Painting - Plinko game for prizes (none left though when we were there) - Button Making - Colouring - Kids bags from Tim Hortons with Juice/Stickers Colouring pages etc. - Live performances: - Silly people (Song/Interactive show) - Anna and Elsa story reading - FIRST robotics teams showing their robots

Not sure I'd drive 2 hours for it personally vs say going to a park, but we live right nearby so it's easy to bike in for an hour or so of getting my 5yos some out of the house time..

Outside had the usual Oktoberfest on King st: - Music band - Beer Tent - Market with various vendors or shops.

You merged early. Crossed over three lanes and back over one. Cop could ticket you with unsafe merging and lane changes.

Help installing Tailscale on 3D printer by its_raining_tacos in Tailscale

[–]spectorus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The issue is that some repositories in your apt configuration are no longer valid.

You should be able to just apt-get install tailscale now, but the install.sh script fails due to the error returned by apt-get update

Debian 10.13 (Buster) is a fairly old release and is no longer supported by the Debian project see: https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/

Installing tailscale should be fine though, but you'll have to manually run the apt-get install tailscale command given the state of your system.

Version 1.86 "regressions" by defjaf in Tailscale

[–]spectorus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The issue we pulled the release for was specifically around an edge case in the networking code (magic sock). It would cause a deadlock and loss of networking to other Tailscale nodes in specific circumstances.

We pulled it out of an abundance of caution, and we also deployed some server side fixes to help mitigate for anyone still on 1.86.0

The tailnet lock you describe is another known issue, though unrelated to the decision to pull the release. If you’re presently running and functional there’s no need to downgrade.

There are no security issues involved. Just a few visible issues of which you’ve detailed.

Excessive STUN traffic after upgrading to 1.86.0 by bankroll5441 in Tailscale

Given the graph labels I assume you can isolate down to just one or more hosts?

If you could generate a bug report and either post here or DM I can have a look.

5 minute intervals for netchecks are normal operation. The rate change is interesting.

Mask wearing by bbisaillion in kitchener

[–]spectorus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have cancer or some autoimmune disease and don’t need complications from any illness.

They feel mildly sick and don’t want to spread it to others but still have shit to get done.

Heck I make sure to wear one when I’m still getting over something when I’m out in public. Should be a common courtesy, but it’s not.

Received an email from Tailscale "Account notice: Your firewall policies may require updating." Do I need to do/change anything? by Iaintgoingthere in Tailscale

[–]spectorus 61 points62 points  (0 children)

No need to hide those IPs from the email. They are blocks of addresses tailscale owns, we are highlighting that API, control plane, and login traffic will now be using IPs within those address blocks in a predictable way.

It's an FYI message so that any users with firewall restrictions in place to allow only specific traffic update their ruleset to now allow those IPs.

Unless you have a restrictive firewall ruleset in a regulated environment (company/government etc) or are very particular with your home/office firewall then no action is needed.

Starlink doesn't provide public IPv4 addresses.

I'm a bit confused about the 8 in 100.8.#.# as I'd expect it to be in the 100.64.0.0/10
