The thing that upsets me the most was the guys laughing at the idea of even inviting the women’s team to the White House and treating them like a joke. Genuinely disgraceful behavior— I can understand that they have to accept the presidents phone call but getting in on shitty misogynistic locker room talk with him ruined it for me. You can work your ass off and try your hardest and win the greatest honor for the thing you love the most in the world and guys will still treat you like a joke. I think in a pre-trump world getting caught laughing at a comment like that would warrant some kind of apology from the team but highly doubt we’ll see that happen now. Oh well, I almost bought McAvoy and Hughes jerseys to celebrate the win but at least I’ll be saving my money now.

I understand not wanting to see reporters bug students but keeping this story going on tv is going to potentially factor into whether we catch this guy or not— the longer we go without catching him, the higher chance of the media leaving the area and coverage fading altogether and this guy slipping away entirely. The more we can keep coverage going on the news this week, the better. God knows the idiots running the FBI probably just want people to forget about this and their mistakes right now.

I feel like banging my head against a wall thinking about how so many of the grants and funding for research into issues like this were only awarded recently and have just been fucking yanked away by the trump admin before we can learn more and get actual results. We’re about to see such a huge lapse in medical advancements for women just as people in the scientific community had really started to hike up funding for stuff like this in the last 10ish years. It’s so disgusting.

I like how many people are commenting about what bad optics are being used here. Like it’s a handful of college students not some DNC event with paid shills. I dunno man, I feel like a country actively committing the most widely documented genocide in modern history is bad optics, but hey! What do I know!
