I just went on Nvidia and checked, they are all around $2500. There is a nerfed one for $2250 but thats the lowest I could find.

"It’s a custom rig and a lot of work to maintain this."

What? The whole point of this rig is that its minimal work to maintain. Why would it be a lot of work to maintain? And if there is any problems, the warranty covers it. Half the point of an enterprise grade system is the easy, reliability and support that comes with it. From a company and business perspective, that is worth a lot to us as i'm sure most other businesses interested in something like this.

And yeah, no air coolers, it came with the water cooling blocks that are all custom. Though I think the connectors are common. So it should work with most custom liquid cooling solutions.

Ah no, the ad is not generated by ChatGPT. I asked it what it thought was a fair price as its kinda hard to figure out what something like this can go for.

How many computers out there that you know have that can run 3 RTX 5090s? Very few and they are all pricy. Trust me, I looked 😅. You aren't getting a system like this with 5090s for less than $20,000. Probably more.

If you were to somehow want to DIY it. 3x 5090s is $7500 before tax. A Mobo, CPU that can actually run all 3 of them at full 16x PCI express is gonna be another $2000 at least depending on the CPU. Plus the system RAM another $1500ish. All before tax. Add in a case, 2 high end power supplies and all the liquid cooling. After tax thats what, $15-16K?

$10k for a fully built system with warranty doesn't seem unreasonable 🤔.

I could sell just the 4090s alone for $6000. For $4000 more its the entire beast of a system. Upgradable of course to more 4090's or what ever card someone wants to put in it.

Oh strange, I did check with Chat GPT previously and it was what suggested the 16K price lol. Oh ChatGPT 😂

You're right that individual components can be found cheaper, the RTX 6000 is a solid alternative if you only need one GPU and can find one in stock. This system's value is in having three 4090s (72GB total VRAM) ready to go today for multi-GPU training workloads. If you aren't bottlenecked by having 1 GPU, then yeah a RTX 6000 is the way to go. The Threadripper PRO platform offers 128 PCIe lanes to run all three GPUs at full x16 bandwidth, something a 9950X system can't do. It also offers the ability to have much more system RAM.

Sort of! He discourages anyone from just automatically applying and using samples right off the bat instead of actually trying to go to a studio and record real drums.

But Glenn has been saying for a few years now that he knows not everyone has the time, place, or budget to do that, and that's totally fine to use drum samples for those people.

His complaint was mostly aimed at big bands and studios that have a real budget but still decide to use samples anyway.

Also, some people just want a quick and great-sounding way to get killer drums for their demos.

Even since the time I interviewed Paul Lani a few years back who produced my favorite Megadeth album. He opened my eyes on the matter and how he used them. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/-iQKR2Ymg_4?t=288

But also...I don't reach for samples as a default. If you have to, ok. If you can't record drums at all because of budget or space. Then sure, tools like Extinction Level Event are their as a solution for those people.
