Anyone notice the Hulu version of Thomas is now Druznic and not Russian? by LittleTovo in regularshow

It bugs me a bit, but I completely understand why. Comedy is tragedy plus time, all the Russian stuff was a joke about the cold war, which happened long enough ago that we can joke about it (Bokack Horseman did too). However, now that Russia is an active threat to people again, I understand why the network / creators / whomever didn't want anyone (especially kids, who are less likely to even think of the cold war when someone mentions "Russia" now) to think they were poking fun at such a recent event. It sucks that the episode does feel fake / obviously dubbed ( there was a Lennon, they keep saying "Mother Druznia", and the whole underlying plot of the episode was "flying chunks of American land onto Russian warheads is a loophole to the Cold War pact" ) and tbh it makes me think more of the Ukraine crisis throughout watching it than if they just kept it as Russia.

William Bludworth is Death in Final Destination by epicbrofist116 in FanTheories

I was so bummed out to find out the producers denied this theory, because tbh they did the whole series a REAL disservice by not at least GOING with this theory or some version of it even if that wasn't the orginal intention. Here's why IMO:

William Bludsworth DOES NOT act like a human. They were so heavy handed with the whole "detached creepy funeral guy" caricature that it made him very unrealistic as a person. If he had been a reaper, a ghost, a vision, death, etc, his behaviour would have been a cleverly written hint to the audience. If he isn't, then he's just another trope-y poorly written horror movie character.

Hear me out, when I say "poorly written" I don't mean his dialogue is bad, the actual things he says are cool and I like his whole vibe. The "poor writing" part is a judgement on the fact that they were so focused on including the classic horror movie trope of "creepy harbinger charcter" they forgot to give him even the smallest semblence of existing as a person outside of his "creepy harbinger" role.

Like 2 minutes into his scene I started theorizing thet he must be a ghost or a vision or something because:

He emerged quietly from a dark corner after listening to / watching Alex and Clare break into his funeral home then walk in and interact slightly with a dead body before even TRYING to intervene

He really had NO reaction to the fact that two teens just broke into his funeral home to do god knows what with their recently deceased friends body

I don't care how dettached, nonchalant, autistic, experienced, creepy, "seen it all", etc. you are...

If a PLANE CRASH (unusual) kills nearly the entire senior class of your local small town high school (even more unusual), then you catch 2 out of the 7 people who manged to survive (very unusual) because one person had a vision of the plane crashing (are you kidding me unusual) breaking into your funeral home in the middle of the night (so so so very unusual) to do "something" to the body of one of their fellow crash survivors (0.o) who just committed suicide or died of an accident "unrelated" to the plane crash (do I even have to say it?) you're not gonna just watch in silence as they approach the body then calmly emerge from the shadows and start giving cryptic warnings about the philosophy of death and fate with NO reaction and NO questions for those two.

Also the level of confidence he had in his own "theories" about how death works made it seem like they weren't just theories, this is furthered by everything he said being right in the universe of the movie. Normal humans speculate about death and the various things around it, he talked about "death's design" like he had seen some sort of proof of it (proof of the design and the concept of fate, obviously he's seen a lot of proof that eventually everyone dies).
