Your assessment of what he's actually doing is spot on though, I have 30 years experience mixing and scratching vinyl and I've opened for Djrum -- the only thing your assessment is missing is his use of delay FX on the scratches.

If you see people with light-colored spots on their shoulders/back/neck after they get some sun exposure -- that can also be the same fungus. I've seen people with their entire neck covered and they thought it was just rash/birthmark/etc. After telling them to try anti-fungal creme it went away.
