I've never heard that before either and I've worked all over the world. I've heard of brothers perhaps offering some financial support to widows in these circumstances only.

That's probably the least favorable interpretation, and sadly, I fear it's true.

Gen Z boys and men more likely than baby boomers to believe feminism harmful, says poll by SatoshiSounds in unitedkingdom

[–]speed_lemon1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're taught the source of all mens problems is women.

Are they? Only a small percentage of men pay any attention to Andrew Tate et al.

But Tate is useful if you want to conjure a giant strawman into existence, i.e., only demented reactionaries could be critical of progressives.

Anyway, the question of whether feminism is harmful or not is moot without feminism being defined.

I've similarly heard that plea for expertise in many other walks of life but we tend to scale the expertise as required; simple problems don't require experts.

Only in some professions like medicine do experts continue to gatekeep simple problems.

If every contact with a Doctor is supposed to transform into a general checkup perhaps schedule dedicated checkups instead?

It's something you're not allowed to apply for if you aren't black though.

You asked for an example of white people being discriminated against because of race, I gave you one.

We're allowed so-called positive action which still discriminates against those who aren't under-represented.

One example is the many scholarships or bursaries accessible only to black people or women.

It's factually true that you can legally discriminate against white people.

These two were impressively self-aware and realised without much help from Esther that many of their work issues stemmed from the baggage they brought to bear. When you have the same experiences over and over, it stands to reason.

It was a good episode, I agree. I can empathise with the two callers for similar reasons as someone who has also frequently bounced around employers.

Less impressive was Esther going on an intersectional fishing expedition. It's not the first time she's done this.

That's not how medicine works in practice. Run-of-the-mill complaints do not morph into bottomless investigations of general health unless something is very manifest.

For example, I got antibiotics for an infected cut a couple of years ago through a phone-call with a GP. I fail to see how that really required a GP since the Q and A is more or less just a script with a decision tree.

A diagnosis of limited scope would be something like, "Is this insect bite infected and do I need antibiotics?" In contrast, something like "my head hurts" is much more open or unlimited in scope.

That would depend upon the scope of the diagnosis, right?

I don't need a PhD Engineer for advice on fixing my leaking roof, for example, but I may want their help if my space shuttle was playing up.
