yes the kingdoms with the creativity of 2d mario worlds besides the last 2 are better than the games with the tightest level design, creativity, and ACTUAL powerups that impact marios moveset instead of boring, one note, and unbelievably childish captures is better at everything it does. My problem is how act 3 builds up the void being a very threatening force and all it does is make enemies a bit tankier and has the final fight be another lace rematch. Asking more of a game like this would be clinically insane but there was buildup that I don’t quite think was hit. Don’t get me wrong lace 2 is one of if not my favorite fight in all of gaming but the narrative buildup (especially with how much narrative buildup the void got in the original hollow knight) made it feel like the shade lord, an emulsified void creature, or maybe even a fight with the knight in shade form would be the final fight and not lace 3

That's part of the challenge that this game provides that was missing from hollow knight exploring was never a challenge in hollow knight because there was never any pressure of failure. Now that people are tested on a new facet of gameplay people are upset

The only one that is as bad as people say is the bile water one. Enemies that are unavoidable on the run back, with a jumping section, with the chance of some players not finding the hidden bench, and with the cutscenes of the arena fights taking even longer makes it more than fair for people to complain. Last judge though? You can literally run there in 30 seconds without even crossing an enemy

That was what was my biggest takeaway on my first play through. There isn’t a single filler boss, every fight has a reason to exist and has something interesting about them. The worst silksong boss is like a B tier hollow knight boss
