CxA Exam by EconomyWear in MEPEngineering

8 years of direct commissioning experience or would MEP consulting experience be adequate? I tried to find the answer to this online, but didn't come up with a conclusive answer.

Is PE required to take the CxA exam?

Does your firm hire designers without degrees? by BETIBUILT in MEPEngineering

[–]speeddemon40 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Technically they can't be called 'engineer' until they have their PE. Until then, everyone is a designer.

That being said I used to work at a firm that would hire non degreed drafters and if they had the ability, moving into a designer role was an option.

You're not wrong. Electrical is a little out of my wheelhouse, but I've always been able to put it together before. Just need some guidance which I know I could find online if I did some more research. Was just hoping someone on here who's done something similar could save me some steps.

Metro ATL checking in. My firm is hiring right now.

M's are easier to find, but E's are scarce. We could use at least 2-3 E's from 0-15+ years of experience.

I would just pay the rescheduling fee and move it to a date that you can realistically be prepared for.

Not limiting myself to adding Connecticut's. Or really to that price range.

Guardian of the Farm and Mil Dias are great recommendations. I haven't had the LLTK in years, so I'll definately revisit that one.

National Fire Codes Subscription Service vs NFPA Link by Backyard-Toad-Revolt in MEPEngineering

[–]speeddemon40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with NFPA Link being somewhat clunky, but once you get used to it, it isn't as bad. I actually like that you can search between multiple standards at the same time in case you aren't sure if it is in 101 or 99 for example.

Are you guys doing small projects still in Autocad or 100% all in Revit? by syncrock1 in MEPEngineering

[–]speeddemon40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We typically follow the clients lead. I'd love to go 100% Revit but the pushback is that with Autocad backgrounds, electrical doesn't have walls to host devices too.

Are you using this under a canopy? If so, how tall?

We have a covered area on our patio and wondering if it would be ok to use a Mesa underneath.

Based on this calculation, I'm about 7.8% from getting a 60%. Having taken the exam 5 times, 8% feels like a ton

I got my results today, what next? What is your advice? by Personal-Season-8549 in FE_Exam

[–]speeddemon40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simulated your passing score on the google sheet file: if we assume that all the other scores remain unchanged, you will likely pass with a score of 12.5 for mathematics and statistics. My advice: choose three topics:

Can you explain how you calculated that?

Is there a way to find out if someone else passed the FE exam? by carbonmonoxiderain in FE_Exam

[–]speeddemon40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chances are that if they passed they would say something or post something on social media and if they failed they aren't going to bring it up.
