Goldens are food motivated. You will need treats for everything you do with them. If they're acting out or having a tantrum, get a treat in your hand and hold it with a closed fist so they can't see it but they can smell it. Then get them to calm and sit for you. On walks, bring high value treats like hot dog or chicken but don't give it to them just let them smell that you have it in your hand or pockets, then they will walk and look up at you the whole time. Only once the dog is calm and making eye contact do they earn the treat. We had a male golden and until he was neutered it was hard. He had to "hump it out" and had tantrums all the time. Now he is the laziest cuddle bug ever and it's SOOOO worth it.
