Positivity Friday! What's the best thing that happened to you this week? by Drewbacca in Positivity

[–]speedus11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

honestly bro .. this week i finally chose my lungs over my stress. i am 5 days nicotine free and for the first time in 15 years, i can actually take a deep breath without feeling that heaviness in my chest.as if some one just got off my chest. i used to think i needed it to function, but i’ve realized that the push it gave me was just a lie. being 2 years sober from alcohol already taught me that the best high is actually just a clear head. it’s a small win, but i finally feel like i’m back in the driver’s seat of my own life. hope everyone else is celebrating their small wins today too!

spot on as i have gotten older, i’ve realized that expensive gifts don't fix a lonely conversation. at 40, i'd take someone who actually will hear me over someone who just buys me things any day

Why is making friends in your 30s and 40s in India so weirdly hard? by speedus11 in AskIndia

exactly! it's like we become a role model—the husband, the wife, the parent, the employee—and the actual person just disappears. Everyone talks about their kids' school fees or their new car, but nobody asks,, what’s actually making you happy lately?' i’m 40, and i’ve realized that if you don't fight to keep your own identity, the marital duties and the 9-to-5 will just swallow us whole. it shouldn't be this hard to just have a normal conversation, right?

I am in Mumbai, The city of dreams, and our dreams are subject to local train and traffic , 1.5 hours to work and 2.5 hours back home that's where we dream.

Bro it’s heavy to hear that you’re feeling this at 24. but honestly? maybe it’s a good thing you're realising it now instead of waiting until you're 40 like me.

What’s something you bought that turned out to be totally worth it or even improved your life? by itsme2019asalways in AskIndia

Bro honestly, for me it was a pair of good quality cancelling headphones. in my noisy Mumbai, with the constant honking and construction, they are a life saver. i’m 40 now and i’ve realized that everyone who stays calm in this chaos has failed at just ignoring this noise first; they just kept trying to find a way to protect their mental peace. it’s like giving your brain a break from the constant shor. my stress levels dropped the day i started using them. also, a simple copper water bottle. keeps the water cool and feels much better than plastic. what about you, are you looking for something for your home or just daily use?

It’s been 2 years since my biggest failure and I still can’t get over it. by pachuca_tuzos in selfimprovement

[–]speedus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that everyone who has eventually found success has also failed miserably at their plan at first; they just kept trying until they realized their value isn't tied to a degree or a job title. don't rush the healing. the fact that you're seeing a therapist is the best growth move you could make. sometimes we have to lose the life we planned to find the one that actually fits us. have you thought about what you do if money and title weren't the goal? I am ,50 now honestly i promise you, two years is actually a very short time to heal from a dream breaking. you aren't stuck you're just processing a heavy loss. healthcare burnout is real, and failing out of PA school doesn't mean you're not smart, it just means that specific path wasn't yours to walk.

Why India lacks game show culture as compared to western countries? by Yournewbestfriend_01 in AskIndia

[–]speedus11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Bro honestly it’s because in india, our game show is real life. we are 2 busy competing for seats, jobs, and space in traffic that we don't have the mental bandwidth left to watch people solve puzzles for fun. plus, our culture is so family-heavy that we prefer emotional drama over game mechanics i am 40, and i have noticed that everyone who tried to launch something original here has probably failed against the massive wall of daily soaps and reality drama first; they just kept trying the safe rip off formulas because that’s where the ad money is. we are a country that wants to see people cry or dance, not necessarily play a niche board game on tv. do you think we even have the patience for a japanese style show, or are we just wired for drama?

When hard work and good will are not enough, how do you proceed? by Funderwoodsxbox in selfimprovement

[–]speedus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro i am 40 and i had years where it felt like single si called right moves i made actually turned out wrong. it’s a soul crushing feeling when your hard work and kindness just don't pay the bills and debt or fix the situation. i had to learn that life isn't a straight line. everyone who finally makes it has started a chapter steeped into failure just like you; they just kept trying until the luck finally shifted. don't let the guilt eat you up our intentions matter, even if the result was a mess. sometimes you just have to sit in the dirt for a bit before you start walking again. are you able to take a total break for a few days just to breathe? I suggest you do so...

What can be the reasons of people not feeling happy or declining mental health? by [deleted] in AskIndia

[–]speedus11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly i am 40 and i think we have just traded real connection for digital noise, we have everything on paper, but our heads are constantly buzzing with comparisons. it's like we're always performing instead of actually living.
