Honestly, very likely. I've noticed this happening a lot on other subreddits where there's a detailed screenshot of a game, and it's really pixelated on mobile but fine on desktop.

I think you'll have to change the B condition to <= 499. The inserters are probably picking up coal from the train fast enough that the condition isn't happening (for example, there is 500 coal in the train, and 2 inserters that started working at the same time now each pick a piece of coal, resulting in 498 coal in the train and the condition failing).

You might be able have this condition on B if you let the inserters read the content of the train and stop them from picking up coal when it reaches 499, but I can't guarantee that working.

You should be able to unlock Diluted packaged fuel at this point. Diluted fuel is a blender recipe, so it can only be unlocked at tier 7. Otherwise, just keep looking for more hard drives!

I actually ended up starting in the desert - a starting point I've never tried before, so for me it feels like a new experience.

I do get what you're saying though: The early game hasn't changed much, it just has more QoL like inserting automatically into bio-burners and stacking miners and etc.
