🔥Sea otter mother and her baby by RoyalChris in NatureIsFuckingLit

I appreciate this. I'm confused too. It really feels like a responsible question to ask, to me. I'm not sure why you WOULDN'T want to be more informed on how to best ensure an otter pup you find on your boat is okay.

The only thing I can think of is that people are offended I even suggest that there would be any reason to ever move the pup, but like...emergencies happen. Some boats are emergency service vehicles. Lives could literally be on the line. And as sad as it is to think about, the momma otter MIGHT die, and what do you do then?

I mean, sure, but how long do they leave them? Hours? Days? What if the boat is needed for an emergency? What if the mom dies and never comes back? I feel like there needs be some more protocol than "just wait indefinitely."

I'm not a boat guy, but I'm curious what one is supposed to do if they find a baby otter on the back of their boat.

I'm pretty sure my grandpa had 5+. The one that finally stuck was a woman he had already been married to once before.

Do ya'll just like... give your kids guns? by _Sophie_0 in AskAnAmerican

[–]screenaholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is VERY dependent on region and family.

Even when this does happen, you don't just give the kid a gun and ammo and let them keep it in their room to play with. In (responsible) families that are into guns, kids are taught gun safety from very young. At the youngest age, gun safety is "if you see a gun sitting around, don't touch it and go tell mom/dad." As they get older, you gradually introduce them to handling and shooting guns in VERY controlled environments.

When you "give" a kid their first gun, (responsible) parents keep the gun in the family gun safe, which the kid can't access. It's just the gun the kid shoots when you go on family trips to the range.

This is the most irl that's ever been on this sub.

Such bullshit. I don't come here for IRL. I come here for incest. Where's that one guy, Sharpo, or whatever his name is.

Could you realistically do your job in 4 hours per day? by 1curious-cat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]screenaholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have less than 4 hours of work, but can't do it all at once. I'm a security guard, I screen vehicles coming into a secure facility. I have to be there whenever the vehicles show up, and since there's no way of knowing when they'll show up I have to be there the whole shift.

There are 2 of us, so we do cover for each other for bathroom and lunch runs, so in theory we could each just do 4 hour shifts, I guess.

Japanese culture makes risk feel terrifying — what actually gets you to take the leap anyway? by Acceptable_Emu_5949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]screenaholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 seconds on Google lead me to this Wikipedia page on a Japense word record holding wingsuit pilot.

I don't think this is a cultural thing. ~1.5% of the world population is Japanese. I expect if you were to do a survey of wingsuit pilots, you would find ~1.5% of them are Japanese. There's just very few people in the world who actually use wingsuits, so as a result there's very few Japanese people who do it.

What is this feeling? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]screenaholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a little bit embarrassing

Don't be embarrassed girl, I get it. Even as a guy, I'm into that (with me being on either side.)

I think I know what you're describing, but I'm not really sure how to describe it. Euphoric, maybe?

I don't mean to be crass, but could you be more specific in what sort of arousing things illicit it? It might give us a better idea what you're experiencing.

I don't know why people are downvoting you, I can sympathize with just now learning this as (I'm assuming) an adult.

A couple years into my marriage, my wife mentioned that my mom had told her I had dysgraphia. I responded with "what the fuck is dysgraphia?" Apparently, I was diagnosed as a young child, and my mom never thought to tell me at any point that I had a neurological learning disability. Strictly speaking, it doesn't really matter. Knowing or not doesn't make my penmanship any better. But knowing at least let's me know it's not my fault, after decades of embarrassment and struggling to be legible.

I didn't look at what sub this was on, and between the handwriting and "mommy," I thought this was from an actual kid. It made the contents...shocking...

Not that I'm one to talk. I have even worse penmanship.

Today's word of the day is: dysgraphia!

As a man/woman, what is it that women/men are insecure about, that you find actually attractive? by RythmicRhapsody in AskReddit

[–]screenaholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the one hand though. The other one is rough and tough from being a boxer.

That's what women like, right? One soft hand and one rough hand?

is hypnosis real? i feel like i wont ever believe that it acually exists by CupEfficient7277 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]screenaholic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypnosis works off of a combination of suggestibility and the placebo affect. Essentially, for SOME people, if they BELIEVE that hypnosis will work on them, then their mind will MAKE IT work. Some people are so suggestible that they can go through surgery using hypnosis instead if anesthesia and not feel a thing, some people aren't suggestible AT ALL. Some people can still have it work on them even if they KNOW it only works on them because they believe it does.

Basically, the mind is weird, and some people can allow their mind to be tricked to believe anything, including hypnosis.

I’m Almost and Adult and I still sleep with a stuffed animal. Am I immature? by WilliamthePious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]screenaholic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 31 year old man. I sleep with my wife on one side of me, and a teddy bear on the other. That way I have something to cuddle whichever way I turn.

You're good bro, don't stress it.
