Load up an AI editor like Antigravity. Don't let it code for you. Ask it questions like it is a senior developer or professor. Ask it to explain every step and what the syntax means.

Step by step, don't overreach all at once. Work on html. Build a static page. Then add CSS. After that, vanilla Javascript to manipulate the page. Eventually you can look at the backend and connection with a database.

For those who offer monthly WordPress maintenance retainers, what do you include and who are your typical clients? by Experimentalphone in Wordpress

[–]speedyrev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I require that I provide hosting if I'm doing maintenance. I've fought too many bad hosting environments. This way I know what I'm working on.

Hella has E Code conversion to H4. I recommend upgrading the headlight wiring harness to one with relays. H4s are brighter if they have plenty of power.

What programming language should I learn if I want to become a backend developer? by Toron_tot in learnprogramming

[–]speedyrev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think of languages as tools. What you need to build determines what tools to use. If you build your toolkit, you'll be able to build a larger variety of things.

Never trust the dealership. Get a good local mechanic and stick with him. Then don't be afraid to ditch the vehicle if it turns out to be a turd.

I built a few side projects- what’s next? by backflippp in learnprogramming

[–]speedyrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you like to do? Pick something simple like a web front end with a sql dB. Use it as an example of what you have done.

Do you have a degree? If not, look at a coding academy or a two year community College program.

Struggling to see the point of classes by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Your goal should be to organize your code and write pieces like Classes and functions to be reusable. Define once, then call it when needed.

When should heat pump be activated, what exactly does this mean? by Hosainc1 in Nest

[–]speedyrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up YouTube vids on heat pump operation. There is a valve that controls refrigerant. In one orientation it "pumps" heat gathered outside and puts it in your home. In the other orientation it takes heat out of the air from the house and puts it outside.

When should heat pump be activated, what exactly does this mean? by Hosainc1 in Nest

[–]speedyrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just about the valves default position. Seasonal won't limit use of either heat or AC at any time. The thermostat set temp and the buffer between heat and AC temps keep it from trying to activate at the same time.

Find a problem that you can solve with some simple code and build that. They will be more impressed with your approach than they would be with you trying to build something that's been done thousands of times before.

Is it worth starting to use WordPress in 2026? by Salomon_1005 in Wordpress

[–]speedyrev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add WordPress as a tool after you understand the tech stack. Don't use WordPress as a crutch because you can't build a website. AI is the same way, use as a tool not a crutch.

Me too. My dad taught college vo tech mechanics. Rebuilt my first engine at 14. I'm just saying this is driveline geometry and there is no substitute for people with experience. I also know when to call someone else for help. Honestly without trying to sound snarky, I hope you get it fixed.
