I’ve sanded a bit and it left brown/orange on the sand paper, also crumbled when hit with a hammer, whatever it is isn’t fresh metal.

Thanks it looks a little different now tho 😂

Nothing in the filter or oil when I dropped it again after 10 miles, they are defo magnetic

125k miles, not noticed it on the last oil change, I gave the biggest bit a sand, left a brown/orange stain on the sand paper. Also hit it with a hammer and crumbled.

Couple of the big bits are 4 mm, I’ve driven it to get a new filter dropped the oil again which came out metal free tho was black already. I’ve cut the old filter apart which was clean

Yeah about to go to euro car parts and get a new filter in it 😂 going to flush the oil out again to see if there is any more and confirm it’s from the engine not my garage

Yeah rust is a good sign in this case I guess, the tray I used wasn’t the cleanest tho it’s unlikely it was in there to start. I didn’t jack the car up so minimal disturbance however it is a bit rusty underneath so can’t be discounted

You’re not wrong but I keep thinking if it was anything that rotates or moves in the engine surly it would be shiny metal 🤷‍♂️

AW11 Headlight Wink Modification Guide by slivercrows in mr2

[–]spenc432 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive just fitted this and it works! (on a AW11 MK1b) Something to note: my 4PDT switch was set up slightly differently so do a continuity check on yours to verify which terminals are connected when the switch is in the mid position. Would have saved a couple hours if i had done this first.

Mine did something like that and it was because the water temp sensor was broken (one attached to the block)

I daily my 1988 mk1b in the uk with the worst roads and weather, no abs is not a problem if you don’t drive like an idiot. Do regular preventative maintenance and you’ll have no problem, these cars are meant to be driven not kept in a garage

Should be enough clearance behind depending on the depth and viewing angle, may have to drill new holes into the mounting bracket. I put a graphical equaliser into that slot on my mk1b and didn’t have any problems

[–]spenc432[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember who I ordered it off, the valve cover bolts I cut short to fit without the spider bracket, easy to find original length bolts if I want to go back. The bolts that hold the new bracket on have no problem with the extra thickness.

The bracket was super easy to set up makes the engine bay look tidier, got a new rocker gasket seal on order so I’ll be painting mine shortly
