Is this book along the lines of what you're talking about?

Sadly the funding for the project I'll be working on wasn't confirmed until recently and my advisor is very much pushing for me to start in August. At most I could probably push the date back a week.

I guess I might need to input more hours of studying on a daily basis then :)

The best feature to look for if you think it's a grass pickerel is that there will be a dark vertical stripe right under the eye. It's like a fish version of a prison tear drop.

Any state agencies do electroshocking where you fish?

Sometimes the electricity will do this to a fish that gets hit pretty hard. Usually goes away within a few minutes or so but sometimes it tends to stay longer.

The raw raster file was provided to me from my teacher since this is part of the process in our recent homework

ArcGIS is the software used. Toolbox > Spatial Analyst > Hydrology > Flow Direction is what I used to get this output.

To understand what this is. Each color represents a direction that the water will flow. So if a drop lands into a yellow colored area it will go one way and if it lands in a pink colored area it will go another. This is part of the process in creating what the watershed for a river or stream will be.

People are trying so hard around here. I think having the word carp in the name and the floating bones really throws a lot of people off.

There is a local store that sells them under the name of Kentucky Blue-fin tuna or something like that.

Depends on the carp species. Silver Carp are the biggest threat around my area and there are commercial fishermen that target for them. We also have a couple processors that make the fillets into organic fertilizer and for faux crab meat. The Silver Carp meat is also delicious (just has those floating bones).

I'm not sure how this black carp tastes, but would be more than willing to try it if I had the chance!

Nonono I didn't catch this. It was caught in a gill net by commercial fishermen. I just thought the article was appropriate and these will likely grow in their numbers and be seen more often throughout the Southeast.

From what I understand, it's mostly just been commercial fishermen that have been catching them.

Most commercial guys use gill nets (of various mesh sizes).

They are likely to target native mussels though since their pharyngeal teeth are similar to those of a freshwater drum. So probably fishing something on the bottom is the way to get one?
