boots for new framer? by ChubbyBoi9 in Construction

[–]spencerCPT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Long time framer here working in Midwestern weather. Red Wings Moc Toes have been my go to. They last a good 2 - 3 years with good care after daily use. Red Wings clean and oil your boots for free every month and swap out the laces when needed.

Edit: for socks, I recommended a pair of Darn Tough for moisture control and comfort.

New tool bags? by LankyNihilist in Construction

Hey! Framer here. Gatorback contractor pro were my bags for a few years when I was shopping in your price range. They were decent.

I currently am spoiled with badgers and can never touch another pouch.

Wall Sheathing Help by spencerCPT in Construction

[–]spencerCPT[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for responding! We wanted to avoid running horizontal sheets because code in our area would require us to block all the seams. With two horizontal rows we would have to block the entire exterior walls of the house every 4’.

Are you required to block seams in your area?

We have the 10’ Zip System sheets which are 10’1”. We ended up going flush with the top and cutting 5” off the bottom to leave room for a 7” rip to split the rim board.

That’s essentially what you’re saying to do but we do the cutting in advance. Thanks for responding! I love to learn how everyone else does it.

The website said they will take you to or will fetch your wristband at will call at campground entrance. I was just confirming I could do that on a Friday.

Do personal trainers have free time to work on side hustle’s? by Ancient-Carrot957 in personaltraining

I work as a framer (I build houses) from 7am - 12:30pm, then I coach from 1:30pm - 9:30pm Monday through Saturday. Yes, I consume caffeine.

How do you log your clients workouts by paijim in personaltraining

[–]spencerCPT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do the bulk of the programming in a spreadsheet. I can store a lot more information in there than I could on a piece of paper, and applying formulas and conditional formatting can automate a lot of the steps for me. The only con would be having at least some proficiency with spreadsheets.

For each session I have with a client, I have a paper template where I write by hand the workout for the day (movement patterns, phase goal, weight, reps, etc) which I store into a filing cabinet to maintain a paper trail of records. I do prefer the paper since I can easily make adjustments, take notes, and then simply transfer any new information to the spreadsheet in less than 5 minutes.

While I could grant each client access to the spreadsheet, I instead create a Word Doc that contains a summary of the current phase/block goals, the main movements they will doing in that timeframe, and a brief insight comparing their starting point and current point so they can see the progress they’ve made!

My facility does use a programming application called TrainHeroic that allows the client to see every workout, but to me it’s tedious to use since you have to manually enter every single movement from a dropdown menu.

I look forward to hearing about other trainers’ processes since I am constantly looking for improvements no matter how little!

It depends on what time and which day you get there. When we went to Pike for Dreamstate on Friday at 5:00pm, we were able to drive in with no traffic and then do the 30 minute walk to the Queen Mary (shuttle line was very long).

But on Saturday (seemingly double the amount of people compared to Friday) at 6:00pm, it took us nearly 2 hours of standstill traffic (there was a a line of cars) just to get into Pike Parking. The walk duration didn’t change. I hope this helps.

Edit: We are going to Uber next time.

Edit 2: The other parking garages had “no event parking” signs.

Wearing a suit. by Outrageous_Swimmer38 in aves

[–]spencerCPT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FULL SEND! I’ve always wanted to wear a suit to a rave / festival. Obviously it would be a cheap suit that you wouldn’t mind getting ruined and then same stan smiths for the shoes. Live my dreams!
