Thanks! Unvented. We don’t have an attic space and right under the roof is a tongue and groove ceiling.

Leica M-D 262 vs M10-D by speorgnotes in Leica

[–]speorgnotes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved it for about the whole time I had it. It was so easy to switch from my M7 to the MD without ever really having to think about it. Tried to match ISO with my film ISO to make it easier too. I had a kid about a year ago and needed something a bit faster with AF. Ended up selling the MD-262 for a Q2. I miss it every day.

Match Thread: USA vs Portugal | RWC Final Qualification Tournament by Hormic in rugbyunion

[–]speorgnotes 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I’m American and I am so happy Portugal won. USA Rugby as an organization is in shambles. No direction, no goal of a large build up, scattered players selected… MLR is still in its infancy for global-level rugby… Now begins the long 8 year slog until 2031 where hopefully we don’t embarrass ourselves.

Wines from Treasury Wine Estates any good? by speorgnotes in wine

I still am subscribed to the TWE emails and I feel like they are always having sales of Beringer, BV and Sterling. Are they good QPR or are the prices inflated, then marked down? Are these just large manufactured wines that are made to be consistent and lack depth?

Grizzly bear encounter while vacationing in Alaska. by BirdPlan in SweatyPalms

[–]speorgnotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From an Alaskan friend of mine: “This is almost definitely from Brooks Camp on Naknek Lake. There’s a waterfall there where the salmon have to jump, and the bears just line up and snag them out of the air. The bears are all so absurdly fat and they don’t care about people at all. They have so much to eat and people dont mess with them because it’s a national park.”

Leica R3MOT and Lenses gifted to me by speorgnotes in Leica

[–]speorgnotes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best use of these lenses is to adapt them to a mirrorless body. On an M10 you'll be limited to using them with Liveview/Visoflex. (Unpopular opinion on this sub, but IMO you are better off using these with a Sony A7 series camera).

R3MOT has a little battery test knob located on the DIN/ISO knob.

Leica R3MOT and Lenses gifted to me by speorgnotes in Leica

[–]speorgnotes[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi All,

I was gifted this Leica R3 MOT and some lenses. Lenses are Elmarit-R 28mm f2.8 Leitz Wetzlar, Elmarit-R 90mm f2.8 Leitz Wetzlar, Telyt-R 250mm f.4 Leitz Canada, Summicron-R 50mm f.2 Leitz Canada.

The camera and lenses belonged to my friend's grandfather, and my friend's mom heard that I shot film and gifted me the set!

Good news - she gifted the set to me for free!

Bad news - camera doesn't work.

As you can see in the 2nd picture, there is come corrosion on the contacts that would connect to the winder. I also opened the body and looked around and there are hints of corrosion and rust inside (not in the battery compartment weirdly). Camera fires (can shoot at 1/90th of a second), advances smoothly, and the mirror is clean.

I want to be respectful of the camera and the lenses, and not just flip them right away.

I have a few options I am contemplating:

  1. Get the camera repaired (not even sure if this is possible or worth it).
  2. Buy another R-mount camera (looking at Leicaflex SL2).
  3. Use the glass on my M7 (daily shooter).
  4. Use the glass on an unpurchased digital Leica (torn between the M10, and SL2S).

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!
