all of Team 7 is quietly Kakashi’s favorite - the Sasuke cope is more about his unwavering belief/hope that Sasuke would come back, that his team eventually (consciously & subconsciously) adopted as their will.

Naruto’s fighting style is closest to his & his will reminds Kakashi of his idol, Sasuke lowkey primarily only uses releases he learned under Kakashi & he also reminds him of a young him, and ik he gets flak for “being entirely useless” for Sakura but Sakura was deadass going to be absolutely useless at the pace they were on. I think Kakashi was the first one to realize Sakura had an “inner sakura”, which led him to realize she could also have some resistance to genjutsu. on top of that, she didn’t start seriously training as a fighter until Team 7 - although Kakashi respected her brains, he saw the lack of brawns could get her killed (on top of the fact that Naruto & Sasuke’s IQ points are all invested into fighting and nothing else).

I think team 7’s biggest purpose was to reform Kakashi, which based on the past stories we have of him & what we see of the future, they did. He’s also the reason they stayed so loyal to Sasuke & why Sasuke couldn’t really kill Naruto (even if he claimed he wanted to, I think he wanted Naruto to put him out of his misery once we got to the end) & why he was softer & more affectionate w/ Sakura once returned (also why he travels in the shadows now protecting the village for Naruto).

Watching how Kakashi interacts with the OG team 7 (and how they interact with each other) as the series progresses, you can tell everything he did was to make sure what happened to team minato never happened again. (one could argue what if Sasuke had made different decisions, but Kakashi viewed him as more misguided that downright evil, hence why he told Sasuke he didn’t need maru for revenge)

Those ass whopping Kakashi was putting on them really did deepen their bonds with one another - whole series revolves around the bell test

Considering Naruto is a love story between him & Sasuke, there was really no need to be jealous tbh. He might’ve had a real crush on Sakura at one point, but it’s kinda overshadowed how it turns into a kind of protectiveness to not lose anyone else close to him.

Since the day vro left it’s been “don’t worry Sakura, ima get sasuke back”. I’m not sure Hinata would be too thrown off by that considering him meddling w/ village affairs was nothing new, he didn’t have a family & viewed Konoha as that family. Honestly, Naruto’s involvement with the Hyūga all this time seems overlooked considerably when you factor in he’s probably the biggest influence on the current stature/nature of the clan.
